I sighed, looking up at the ceiling, waiting to be properly woken up, but today was different. my daughter was going to be going to day care for the first time today, while I would be going to work for the first time in a while. having angie at home made it hard for me to work, since her father was no longer in the picture and almost all of my family were busy with their own jobs.
i pushed the sheets off me and sat on the edge of my bed. i saw the little girl looking at me, giggling as she sat on the floor in my bedroom. i chuckled seeing her with her cheeky grin.
"hey angie, what are you doing?" i sat on the floor, pulling her into my lap.
"you talk in your sleep mummy" she giggled as she hugged me then ran out of the room, her toy doggy trailing behind her. i chuckled as i stood up walking into the kitchen where i found angie waiting for breakfast.
"pancakes today angie?" her blue eyes widened as she nodded her head rapidly, cheering pancakes. i grabbed the batter from the cupboard, adding water and starting to shake the bottle. i switched on the coffee machine while making it mix completely.
i looked over to see angie talking to her doggy. "you ready for day care sweets?" she looked up at me grinning.
"yeah mummy i make new friends!" she had the biggest smile on her face. it made me smile seeing her so happy. there was a knock on the front door and i looked at her smiling.
"whos that angie?" i mocked looking confused. she gasped as she ran to the door, me following behind her. she tried to reach for the door handle but was too short so i reached over her to open the door. "watch out or i might squish you" i smiled at her. i pulled the door open to see joseph standing there with a smile on his face.
"hey beautiful girls!" he exclaimed with excitement on his face. angie squeeled and ran into his arms as he picked her up chuckling. he leaned forward giving me a peck on the cheek. "hey baby sis, just thought id come visit my little neice on her first day of school!" he tickled the little girl in his arms as she giggled and squirmed around.
"hey joseph, you're just in time cause what are we having angie?" i ask in excitement towards the little girl.
"pancakes!" she yells in our ears as we chuckled. joseph set her on the ground as she ran into the kitchen where i was about to start making the pancakes.
"angie why don't you go show uncle joey what you're gonna wear today" joseph went to shake his head but angie had already grabbed his hand and started dragging him into her room giggling, while he laughed along. "don't take too long kids, pancakes will be ready in 5"

"hey so I was wondering if you could pick up rosie from day care? I know you have work but it's my first day back so I can't get off until 5:00 but she finishes at 4:00." I pleaded to my brother as we sat across the table from each other eating our pancakes.
"rosie, I'm filming today. I don't know if it's the best place to bring a kid.." joseph was in a pretty popular tv series called stranger things. he'd only started a few months back but he loved every minute of filming. I hadn't had the chance to meet his cast mates but it was something I wanted to do to show my support.
"please Joey. You know I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important. I'll come over as soon as I finish and pick up angie I swear." I sighed, reaching over the table and grabbing his hand. he sighed, looking over at the little girl that smiled back at him, a mouth full of pancakes and her eyes sparkling from happiness.
"well sweet pea, looks like you're coming to work with uncle joey this afternoon. you get to meet all my friends, how does that sound?" angie cheered at the thought of spending time with her much loved uncle. I stood up and walked around the table to give him a big hug.
"you're the best, big bro"
