Darkness masked the fair skin of the figure gazing down from above. They didn't know she was there, that she was watching over them silently, and the tall girl didn't know she was watching her leave the comfort and safety of her sleeping friends. The figure scowled at Nora's foolishness. How could she not understand just how lucky she was to have them? Yet, even as the blonde's actions unfolded before her eyes, it was the raven haired one that the figure watched, tucked away in the branches and leaves as the girl's chest rose and fell beneath layers of fabric. That girl, that poor, innocent girl, was worth much more than she knew, but then again, none of them did. For, to them, she seemed to be just another piece of an infinitely large puzzle. She didn't know that her fate had been mapped out long ago. She couldn't know. Not yet.

The boy's breathing sped up as blood flooded the ground beneath him, spilling from his ankle even with Nora's hand pressed against it. To him, it felt like an eternity before the other three arrived, one carrying a bag that was overflowing with the medical supplies they had stocked up at camp over the years. The blonde took a quick glance over her shoulder, as she had been doing for the past five minutes, awaiting their arrival.
"It took you long enough. Cain, get over here and help." She commanded, shifting her position to make room for the more medicinally educated member of the group.
Cain's gaze flickered over Fox's wound, looking between their supplies and the ankle. Carefully, he pulled away Nora's hand, revealing the large amount of blood to be caused by a deep cut on the skin around the break. He breathed a sigh of relief, pulling out some high-quality- albeit illegally obtained- peroxide from the bag that currently laid in a heap beside him. As Cain got to work, silently recalling the procedures he had been taught as a teenager, Nora stepped back to join Iris and Nova on a log where they were talking about what exactly they were going to do with Fox once Cain stabilized his wound. She turned her head to see Raina, Tony, and Aadip leaning against their respective trees and chatting aimlessly. Her ears perked up at the words that angrily slipped passed her brother's lips and looked to him once more, seeing his blue gaze fixated on the steadily moving hands of his friend.
"Just leave him. We don't need another person to take care of, especially not one that's wounded. We'll get caught. They'll kill us. You and Nora wouldn't survive a day in there. They've wanted us dead since the moment they found out we were still alive. We can't risk it." His voice was lower than usual, more serious. Nova wasn't normally one for letting new people in. He had even despised when Iris joined them three years ago, seeing as at the time she had been obviously malnourished and had been on the edge of death for weeks until Nora and Cain nursed her back to health. She was up and ready to help out within the month, but ever since, Nova has voiced his hatred of changing the team. This had to be an annoyance for him.
"We're supposed to just leave him here to die?" Nora retorted quickly.
"We can't handle another person in the group, Alianora!" Nova half whispered-half shouted, shooting an ice cold glare at his sister and not even blinking as Fox let out a scream.
Nora squinted her eyes at him, pushing off of the log and walking back to where Cain was talking with Fox, who's breathing was gradually slowing back to normal. His ankle had a large piece of fabric wrapped tightly around where the cut had been and a dark purple bruise had formed around the side of his ankle.
"How's it going over here?" She asked gently, smiling at the two.
"It was a pretty simple fracture, even though none of those are simple I guess. It could've been so much worse. The bleeding was caused by a laceration above what, as far as I could tell, was just a lateral malleolus fractu-"
