Working out the project

It was Saturday morning and Christen and I were sitting in the collage lounge. My plan was almost all worked out. The only thing I needed to do was finding a homeless person.

"I still think you've to find something else, it's dangerous out there. Those kind of people" Christen kept saying, I was sure of my disision, I wanted to show the rest of my class how New York really was.

That Monday we had 'Writing&Producing' again, our teacher sent us out to call and organize. While others sat on benches in the park with their phone or were on their way to a casino or hotel, I was walking on the street looking in every little alley.

"Change?" I heard a girls voice behind me. A thin, old women with normal clothes looked at me.

"Do you have some change for the bus?"she asked. I didn't answer and walked away. Of course I found some homelessness on my way, but it were those kind of people you don't wanna see at night when you're alone with a borrowed, expensive camera. I sat down on the ground at looked at the sky. I wanted to show people truth, on my own way. What else could I do? Talk to a banker about economy problems? No one wants to see that. It's boring and doesn't have a story. I closed my eyes and thought. If I couldn't even do this, I wouldn't be able to do anything else that has something to do with filming.

"It sucks doesn't it?" A familiar voice said. I opened my eyes and looked next to me. A girls with long, dark blond hair sat next to me. Her lips were bloody and full. Her eyes were turquoise and sparkling. She had a little diamond in her nose and 2 earrings in each ear. Her pants was torn on her knees and she was wearing a dirty sweater with a beanie(hat) and a scarf and stripped gloves without fingertips.

"What do you mean?" I asked, I turned to have a better look on her.

"Being homeless"she answered

"Ow, I'm not homeless, I'm just sitting on the ground" I explained.

"Do you have a home?"

"No, my parents have"

"Do you live there?"

"No"

"Then you're homeless"

"I don't live there because I'm in college"

She made a peeking noise and got up.

"Don't leave"

"Why not. I don't like your kind of people"she said without turning around.

"Please, I've a question. I'll pay you"

She stopped walking and turned around. "Now, we can talk" she sat down next to me again and I explained the story about the documentary. She said she needed to think about it and got up again.

"Wait, how will I know your answer?" I asked.

"Follow me"

I got up too and followed her into an alley. There was a big box with some blankets in it. I realized it was her house. Behind the box was another box with stuff in it. An umbrella, gloves, necklaces, books, aerosols, a baseball bat, etc. the girl sat down in the first box and held the umbrella above her head.

"Welcome home" she said smiling. I smiled. She seemed happier than some other people. I'll tell you, this story isn't all about hobo's and homeless people, it's just about her, love and pain.

" You never told me your name" I said, smiling my most dazzling smile.

She laughed. " Kat" she held out her hand.

"Mon" I answered, grabbing her hand.

"That's not your real name" she said grinning.

"Moana" I said ashamed. "Is Kat your real name?"

"Since I live on the street" her smile disappeared and she stared at the wall.

"I have so much questions for you" I said in a deep, soft voice. "If I only had time enough to ask them. I would like to ask them in front of a camera"

She signed and smiled. "Okay. But I don't want money. I want a bet" she grinned. It was weird that she didn't asked for money.

"Bring it on"

"You may follow me with your little camera, but than you've to sleep with me" she was shocked by her own words. "I mean, you'll have to sleep on the street too"

"I think I can do that" I grinned too.

"When are we going to start?" she asked enthusiastic.

"Tomorrow I think. Will I meet you here 1 o'clock?"

"I don't have a clock"

"Ow euhm. Here" I took my watch off and put it on her wrist. While I fastened it, she stared into my eyes and I into hers.

"I don't think I can take this from you"

"I want you to take it. Together with this" I putted my hand in my pocket and took my money out of it.

"No" Kat interrupted.

"Yes. Here" I gave her twenty dollar.

"This..."

"Be quiet. Buy yourself some food, okay?" I touched her cheek and got up.

" I gave to go now, I'll see you tomorrow, one o'clock" I walked away.
