Year 2062
"Today is a great day in the path of technology. We can soon manufacture you a mechanical body that will act as a substitute for the organic brain to grow inside. We call it, the BodyBot. Here today we have Frederick. Frederick is the leading scientist on the BodyBot. Do you have any words on your invention?"
"Yes, yes I do. While some of you may worry that this BodyBot may take over humanity, and maybe even the world. We assure you that this will not happen. My fellow scientists and I have all agreed that the BodyBots will only be used for medical purposes. I hope all of you have a wonderful life, especially since now you will get more of it! With that, goodbye."Year 4062
"Hey Josh, it's your shift for scouting. Take the magne-car. You have to go pretty far north," said a really large cyborg with assorted explosives hanging from his body. He had what looked like a bucket on his head. He was talking to a cyborg with a scope with many different lenses for an eye and assorted tools on his hands.
"I know Pauk, just because you pack the most firepower doesn't mean that you are the leader."
"No, it doesn't Genius..." he said very sarcastically.
"Stop calling me that."
"Well it's true. You had better get going."
"Goodbye, will be back in a few hours." Josh then walked over to the magne-car, hopped on, and started driving.
After a few hours of driving the magnet-powered motercycle, he came across something that he had never seen before. It looked like a village. One of those that you would hear about from the history bots. The creatures that built and lived in them had gone extinct a thousand years ago. It was a human village. Excited to finally get to explore one, Josh got of of the magne-car and walked over to it. There were houses that looked as though the inhabitants had left only a few months earlier. Knowing that this was impossible, Josh went in the house that looked the best kept. The first thing that Josh noticed when he walked inside was that the lights were on.
"Is anyone home?" asked Josh tentatively.
"Uncle? Is that you?" came a voice from the next room. When Josh walked in, he saw a sight that made him almost malfunction right then. It was a human boy, probably about 15 years of age. He had light blond hair and was probably only 5' 7". He was wearing what looked like a Gaming T-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans. "You're not my uncle. you're one of those evil robots! You killed my parents! I will kill you!"
"Calm down. I am not one of those. My name is Josh. I am in hiding just like you. I am a rebel against the bad ones. My rebel friends and I work to try and stop the evil regimes of Thorne the-who-knows-what."
"How do I know that I can trust you?"
"Thorne killed my parents as well. Also, you don't have much of a choice. When we get back to our hut you can ask any question you want."
" Well... Ok. I mean, my Uncle probably won't be coming back. Just let me grab a few things." A few moments later he came back holding a chunk of meat, a shotgun, and what looked like a mechanical device.
"What is that?" asked Josh pointing to the device.
"It is a device created from one of my ancestors back when the BodyBots were just coming into existence. It allows me to control pure plasma. Supposedly there are others made by his scientist friends that have their own powers, but I never believed it."
"How do you make sure no one steals it?"
"It only works with the DNA of the creator, seeing as I am the only one of my family left now that my uncle is almost certainly gone, I am the only one with the power to use it."
"Intriguing. We should probably head to base. How long has it been since you have been in this camp?"
"Probably my entire life. Oh, I almost forgot." He ran away and came back with a key. "My dad said that this will lead to Earth's saving. I have no idea what it unlocks. He said something once about a great lady with a torch in one hand and a book in the other, but unless you have some sort of idea of what that is, I don't know what it means." By this point they were just arriving at the base.
"I do have one idea, but it seems otherworldly."
When they got to base, Josh took him directly to the meeting room. All of the other cyborgs were already there.
"You said something about a surprise. What is it?" asked one cyborg that was quite tall. He also had four arms and four scimitars on his hips. His head looked like a skull that could turn 360°. To his right was a cyborg with about thirty arms, all with some medical tool attached to the end. Next to him was Pauk. Above him in the rafters was yet another cyborg with only one eye that was a scope, he also had a sniper rifle and an assault rifle on his back and two full-auto pistols on his hips. He had a helmet with a very high-tech looking visor on it.
"Meet one of the last humans. These are my friends Johnson, Dr. Drarwavski, Pauk, George, and me, Josh. What is your name?"
"My name is Alex," said the boy in a small, nervous voice. "You said I could ask any question, my first question is why are you in hiding in America?"
"We are in hiding here because the enemy has all but abandoned the destroyed country. It is the only place that is safe for us to roam free and not be caught. The enemy does have some lookout posts trying to find us, but as long as we stay away from them, we are completely safe."
"Why did the enemy try to destroy the humans?"
"It all started 2000 years ago with the first generation of Thorne. He convinced a few other BodyBots that the humans were to blame for them being poor and imperfect. He used their anger to rally them and take control of all the BodyBots and try to eradicate the human race. It seems, however, that they failed in doing so."
"Another question, did you say Dr. Derarewaviski?"
"No. Dr. Dr-rar-wa-v-skee."
"OK. One more question. Do you think that the giant statue I saw when we drove in could be what my key goes to?"
"I did not think about this, it sounds just like your description! Let's go!"
"Can I go with him?" asked Johnson.
"Yes, you, George, and Alex take the boat and check it out. I will stay here and work with Dr. Drarwavski on a way to duplicate the meat you had with you so that you can continue to eat."
"So kid, what's it like living in a world of cyborgs trying to kill you?" asked Johnson while they were paddling towards the destroyed and partly sunken statue.
"Well, we never really had to worry about, you know, your type of people, until just a few months ago. Normally when they search for lost villages they say something about it on the radio beforehand and we could hide. This time there was no warning. My uncle and I only survived because we were currently playing hide and seek with my parents. We had found what was probably the best spot in the village. It was a lost cellar underneath one of the houses. To get to it we had to lift the floorboards so it was practically invisible. My mom had already been found and my dad was just about to go into the house that was above us. My uncle and I heard screaming so we looked out through a peephole and saw all of our friends and family standing in a line as they shot them all. One. By. One. While they were doing this, my mom let slip something about other humans. They took her and my dad away into a different room. This, sadly, was the room right above me and my uncle. We watched as they tortured them with all sorts of needles, potions, and blades. All they got out of them was that there had once been more villages. That and the location of one. I didn't hear it because by then I was concentrating so hard on not making a sound. While we were down there I found this device. My dad had once told me of a legend of a device that only worked with the DNA of his family. It was supposed to have the power of controlling pure plasma energy into beams. By then all but one of the cyborgs had left so we decided to go back up. Right outside the door was the last of the cyborgs. I was desperate to try out the device as well as get revenge for my parents. I took aim and fired. A beam of pure plasma shot out and burned a hole directly through his torso. As he fell I grabbed his head and hallowed it out with an old knife. I have worn it since on my head as a trophy. Shortly after my uncle came out with his old .22 rifle saying that he was going to have a long talk with Thorne. That was the last I ever saw of him. I think he is probably gone with how long it has been without contact. Then Josh found me and here I am." It was then when George noticed his helmet. He had thought it was part of his head. It was about an inch thick and had a dark purple visor. The rest of the helmet was dark green. It had a small flashlight on the left and a little camera on the top giving him the third eye look. On the right was a single, small, round chip. This chip is the fingerprint of a cyborg. All are the same shape but everyone has a different symbol. This one was katana.
"I knew that cyborg. He was my brother. For a while he was a rebel like me. One day Thorne came by and somehow convinced him that the fight of the rebels was an unjust one. Ever since I have been looking for him so that I could destroy him." spoke George.
"But he is still your brother? Why destroy him?" asked Alex.
"He is no brother of mine. He killed my parents and crushed their chips. I thank you for destroying him and not smashing his chip. In that way I honor you for it is a terrible disgrace to have one's chip smashed. The only cyborg that deserves that is Thorne, if he even has one."
"Sorry to barge into your moment, but I have a question for Alex. How big was your village?" spoke Johnson to Alex.
"I don't know, probably about 50 or so."
"Wow, I can't even imagine that many humans in one place. Especially since whenever I try, They all look like you!"
"Hah! I can't imagine a whole village of me. Nothing would get done..."
"Now it's my turn to interrupt, we are here at the grand temple. None have been able to get in for 2000 years, and trust me, we have tried very hard. Why don't you try that key of yours?" Alex got out of the boat and inserted the key and tried to open the door. It didn't budge. After five minutes of trying to open the door, a voice came from inside the temple.
"Well that was anticlimactic. You did turn the key, correct." the three trying to get in all looked at each other in shock and turned the key. The door opened and a man was standing there. He looked like a normal human except for a plug on his head. "Come in, we have much to talk about." They all sat down and stared at the man. "Well, tell me your names!'
"Right, sorry. My name is Alex, and these are my friends Johnson and George."
"Alex what?"
"Just Alex."
"And what is it that you have there?"
"A device passed down through my family that only works with our DNA."
"What does it do?"
"Shoot beams of pure plasma."
"I see."
"What is your name.'
"I am Dr. Gilfand. I am over 2000 years old. I also happen to be one of the first tests of the BodyBots. In the beginning there were five of us. All five of us were put in the first version of the BodyBots. They succeeded, yet they did so too well. With it, the five of us would live forever unless physically hurt. We decided against letting the public get this, so we made them just extend life. Then one day, my eldest brother turned against us. He started a gang saying that the humans were to blame for their troubles. These troubles, though nonexistent, sounded real and terrible, so naturally they joined him. The more generations went by, the easier they were to control. Then one of my sisters spoke out against him and was locked away somewhere. Then my younger brothers were 'found' snooping. He was gone the next day. After hearing of this, I didn't wait to be found and I ran. I found this statue, what was once the Statue of Liberty and locked myself inside. One day almost 2000 years later a human found me. I believe he was your grandfather. I gave him the key so that one day when the humans were found again I could help them beat my brother."
"Would wouldn't happen to know of your brother?"
"Certainly. His name is Thorne."
"Thorne is your brother!" screamed Alex. "He killed my entire family, my whole village!"
"He is no brother of mine anymore, much like your brother George, only mine is an absolute monster. He almost eliminated an entire species. If you are wondering, I have cameras outside that can pick up sounds from over a mile away. One other question. Are there any more of you rebels?"
"Yes, we will go there immediately."
"Wait, let me grab my chickens."
"You have chickens?"
"Of course! You think that I would spend 2000 years without eating? I live for food!" he said as we walked out with 50 chickens behind him. "Race you to the boat!"
"Last one there is a stripped wire!" screamed Johnson.
"How can I be a stripped wire?" screamed Alex from the back.
"I don't know, we'll make an outfit!" screamed George as he jumped in the boat first.
BAM! CRASH! SMASH!
"Who's making all that ruckus!" screamed Josh.
"It's us!" screamed George.
"Three people can't make that much noise." said Josh as he turned the corner.
"That is because there are four of us. Plus fifty living chickens." said Dr. Gilfand calmly.
"Perfect! Dr. Drarwavski and I couldn't clone the meat we had. I am going to call up a meeting and you can explain everything." Fifteen minutes later and everyone's jaws were literally on the floor. "Soooooooooo. Where to now?"
"Well, you see. I have a map that supposedly leads to another human with one of those device things. It looks like Washington D.C.!" said the Dr. Drarwavski.
"What is a Washington D.C.?"
"It's not a thing, it's a place. It was once the capital of America. Now it is destroyed from the human/cyborg war. It is a long ways away so we should get going. Also, Alex. I have reason to believe that your uncle is still alive."
"Well let's go then!" said Alex fiercely as he hopped on one of the magne-bikes and rode off in the direction of D.C.
"Wait!" screamed Dr. Gilfand. "There are not enough bikes for all of us, I will have to ride with you," he said as he hopped on. Alex quickly restarted the engine and shot forwards.
"Ummmm, Josh?" asked George.
"What do you want?" asked Josh.
"Is it just me, or are those two pillars up there? Two pillars that look suspiciously like they might be able to project an EMP beam. Two pillars that have another cyborg next to them. A cyborg that almost certainly..."
"Stop worrying," said Josh. "It's not like MEC would be here waiting to ambush us with a..." It was then when they passed the pillars. Alex looked around to find all of his new friends sprawled on the ground, there was also another cyborg walking around picking up their weapons. The cyborg had not yet seen Alex so Alex pretended like he was also affected. Alex's device must have some protective outer-covering for it was still working. When the cyborg walked over to him and started to bend down, Alex jumped up and blasted him in the chest. Alex then cut out the chip from the cyborg and attached it to his helmet.
"We lost contact with Tom right about here," came a voice from the distance amplified by the helmet. As Alex turned to face the voice, he was bashed in the head. "And that seems to be the reason why," said the voice as Alex lost consciousness.
When they came back online they all found themselves in their own small, dark, gray cells.
"Is everyone here?" asked Josh from his cell. after a series of here's he found that two people were missing. One of the two being Alex, the only person that would be able to get them out of their cells. This was because instead of walls, there were electromagnetic energy fields. This made it so no metal could go through, that includes cyborgs. "Great, we're missing Alex and Dr. Gilfand."
"Wow. You're already missing me?" came a voice from behind Josh.
"Alex! Why didn't you say 'here' when I asked."
"Because at that time I was already out and a guard was walking near my hiding spot. I hope that you're not angry at me," he said in a childish voice.
"No, I'm not angry at you, but how are you going to help all of us?"
"Like this." He then walked over to a control panel and flipped of a switch. "I thought you were supposed to be the smart one?"
"Whatever. Now what happens if we run into another cyborg?"
"I know," said George. "Step one, we hope it's Dr. Gilfand. Step two, if it's not, Alex knows what to do. They left the helmet thinking that it was part of him as we did. That means we have a weapon. My brother had one of his favorite weapons inserted into his head when he was young. I believe that it is a..."
"...strange round thing that I think is an eyepiece?" interrupted Alex looking at it.
'That is an eyepiece. That is because, as you might remember of my brother, he had a blaster on his left arm. He almost always had that attached. It didn't block anything and while he was aiming his arm It would turn into a sight for it. It attached to the blaster so he could see exactly where he was aiming. He only put it away when he was cleaning his visor. No, put that back away. What you are looking for is in the other compartment. It should be a..."
"...foldable sword?"
"Stop interrupting me. Yes, a foldable sword, but not any sword. An energy sword. If you turn it on, it goes from being a normal sword to a sword with a such a strong current going through it that it can melt almost anything."
"Good to know. Who is going to use it?"
"You. You're the only one that can. It must be connected to the helmet in some way. For you through your nervous system."
"Why?"
"For one, it is to stop other people from using it. Secondly you can activate it from the helmet. Lastly if his eco-armor is still in there, it can help you fight with it."
"Is the eco armor this slightly larger green disc?"
"Yes. Put that on and you will probably feel the difference immediately." What he said was very true. As soon as Alex put on the eco-armor he felt stronger and more in sync with himself.
"Why is it called eco-armor?"
"For three reasons. One, it was made when he was still fighting for life. Two, it actually has preserved plant leaves in it hence the green color, and yes, they are dead. And the third and most important reason, it sounds cool. The real him would have wanted you to have it." As soon as Alex put the armor on a voice came out of it.
"WOW! It feels so good to be alive again. Wait, is that you George?"
"This is impossible. Jacob?" asked George.
"The one and only!"
"Who is this George?" asked Alex.
"Well, this is my brother Jacob."
"But I killed him!"
"Nope!" said Jacob. "When Thorne took me into the other room to discuss, what actually happened was he trapped me in my own eco-armor. Which was then placed inside my own head. He needed me for my knowledge and skills. Ever since I have had to watch myself do terrible things. Until one day when this boy destroyed my body. When I saw you alive and well I let out a huge sigh of relief. When you guys were without weapons I realized that I might finally be free."
"I was going to ask why Thorne kept you alive, but you even answered that. Well, you two should probably get acquainted. You're going to spend all of your time together."
"No time for that! MEC inbound!" shouted Johnson. They all looked down the hallway to see a cyborg with four arms each with a sword in it.
"Well then. You ready for this Jacob?" asked Alex.
"Ready as ever!" Let's bash this body stealer's processors! They were an amazing team. Alex in main control, Jacob perfecting form, helping some moves, taking total control sometimes for quick strikes and when needed making a quick dodge that Jacob might see coming with his 360o vision. Right when they were about to win the cyborg surprised them with a slash from a hidden sword. They fell to the ground. Right when the cyborg was getting ready to swing, a giant hole appeared in his chest. When the cyborg was destroyed, Dr. Gifland was behind him with Alex's device in his hand. When Alex tried to stand, they saw that he was very weak. At first they didn't know what was wrong, then they saw that instead of two arms there was one. His left arm was discarded on the ground. Dr. Drarwavski immediately got to work.
"If this was a robot it would be easy. All we would have to do is inject you with this nanobot serum that would rebuild you a new robot arm. Sadly we can't take those risks, not unless we have some idea of what would happen," said Dr. Drarwavski. Just then Dr. Gilfand came from around the corner and handed him Alex's device.
"The maker said that this would one day become part of their owner. I thought that it was a bunch of bologna. Now we must hope the maker knew what he was talking about."
"You seem to know a lot about these things." said Dr. Drarwavski while infusing the serum and the device. "Did you know the maker?"
"You could say that. Just hurry up." Dr. Drarwavski then inserted the needle into Alex's arm and squeezed. They stood around hoping. Then something happened. Tendrils of the same metal that the cyborgs are made of started to come out and began to weave a new arm. It looked very similar to his old one except it was plated and silver. "This is sad, we no longer have the plasma device."
"Wrong!" spoke Alex. He stood up and held his arm out. All of a sudden the plates on the arm moved back on the arm as well as the hand to reveal a minigun wrist, cannon hand, and a rifle on the top. Also, when it goes back, his fingers could flip open to reveal precision lasers for cutting.
"Awesome!" said Jacob. "Back to the good old days, but even better!" Alex then walked over to the fallen cyborg and cut out his chip and put it on his helmet. "I have a question. Before the battle, someone called these evil cyborgs MECs. I like that name. Any objections? No, awesome MECs it is." They all went and grabbed their weapons and bikes. They then shot away like a bullet. "Too bad we had to let the other MECs in there live."
"We didn't!" said Pauk as the whole place exploded beautifully behind them.
"How did you have time for that?!" asked Jacob.
"It only needed one bomb. My arm."
"YOUR ARM IS A NUCLEAR BOMB!!!"
"Yes, and don't worry, I have extras."
"You are just full of surprises."
"As are you old buddy"
"Touché. One question Dr. Gilfand. How did you escape?"
"After 2000 years you pick up on a few things."
"I see, weren't you sitting in a statue the whole time."
"Hey guys. We're here at last," Dr. Gilfand said suspiciously. They were just arriving at a village.
"Hey guys. No more MEC!" said Josh.
"Everyone makes mistakes sometimes," said Josh sheepishly as they were sitting in their cells. As soon as they had entered the town they were all blasted by an EMP and Alex slammed into a wall thanks to his magne-bike failing.
"BOTH! #$%*&#*! TIMES! YOU! SAY! THAT! THERE! IS! NO! MEC! THERE! IS! MEC! WAITING! FOR! US! AND! THEY! AMBUSH! US! STOP! OPENING! YOUR! @$#&%*$! BAD! LUCK! FILLED! MOUTH!" screamed Johnson.
"Wow. Dude, I would advise not angering this guy. Especially if you think you are getting out of here alive. I have seen his swords and they are deadly!" said the guard. "Also, Lord Thorne wishes to see you. In case you are wondering, we already have the teleporting girl, Kendra."
"What did you tell her?" asked Josh.
"The usual. We're winning. You are a losing force. I mean, you're just a thorn in the side of MEC compared to...I have already said too much."
"Another question. What does MEC stand for?"
"Many Evil Cyborgs."
"Wow, that's interesting, it is so true!"
"HEY! Thorne wanted the name to be MEC, but he couldn't think of what it stands for so that's what it is. If you say we are evil because we killed of humans, we did it because they killed the first generation of Thorne."
"False!" stated Dr. Gilfand.
"And who might you be?"
"Doctor Frederick D. Gilfand. First successful test subject of the BodyBot."
"But that would mean that you are over 2000 years old! No one is that old."
"Wrong again. I am that old, and so is your 'Lord Thorne', my brother."
"Are you implying that Lord Thorne lied to us?"
"Naturaly."
"Do you have any proof?"
"Naturally."
"Have your circuits fried?'
"Naturally."
"Can you say anything other than naturally?"
"Naturally."
"Will you please die?"
"No, you will."
"How, you are weaponless?"
"WRONG!" screamed Alex as he blasted the MEC with his large cannon, removed the chip, put the chip on his helmet, and walked over to Thorne's room.
"So, you killed Joe, my best guard, brother?" asked Thorne.
"No, I did. Also, why do all of your men have such generic names? And why are you in America?" asked Alex.
"Long story, maybe later for the first question. The answer to the second question is you."
"Hand over Kendra!" shouted Dr. Gilfand.
"Okay, she is right behind you." Dr. Gilfand turned around and she was there one second, then gone the next. As he was turning around there was a crack of a laser cannon and a sizzle of melting metal. Alex quickly turned to see Dr. Gilfand hit the floor with a hole in his chest. Everyone ran over to him.
"Alex," spoke Dr. Gilfand in a strained voice. "I must tell you something. I am..."
"Hey! Brother! There is a reason I shot you you know! Not a single word will come out of your mouth!"
"Don't worry, I won't say one single word," said Dr. Gilfand. "Alex, I am your Great great great great great great great great great great... (80 greats later) ...great great great great great great great great great great grandfather."
"How did I know that you wouldn't listen to me?"
"What do you mean? I did not say a single word... I said 113 words!" he said jokingly.
"Well, I am sorry to say that you won't see your time portal thingamadoodle."
"Time warp?" asked Alex.
"That is what your device is for. If you combine all of them then it will open a time warp portal so you can bring back life to earth. When my siblings and I saw what the BodyBot was doing, we immediately got working on a plan b."
"Well, you won't ever see it happen. Kendra. Kill Alex." Kendra appeared next to Alex and grabbed his arm and pointed at his head.
"Kendra, please, don't..." begged Alex.
"Don't worry," she said. "It will be painless."
"Do it!" screamed Thorne. Kendra quickly teleported behind Thorne and aimed Alex's hand at him and whispered shoot. He immediately complied. Thorne was blasted across the room into the wall. He was quickly surrounded by Mecs and was taken away.
"Why?" asked Alex.
"I heard what you said earlier. I heard there was a human prisoner so I snuck around in the rafters. When I heard what you guys had said I realized that you were right. I had to fight or he would have destroyed us all. I am sorry about Dr. Gilfand."
"What's to be sorry about?" said Dr. Gilfand. "I'm a cyborg. I made sure that when I was made nothing vital was in my torso for that exact reason. A little fixing up and I'll be good as new. Who's ready to meet my sister? I believe Kendra has the key. She lives in the Washington Monument. A short drive." They all found the magne-bikes and quickly made it to the monument.
"Freddy! I haven't seen you in 2000 years!" said Dr. Gilfand's sister.
"A lot has changed Esmeralda. Meet your descendant, Kendra. Still with the device. I was wondering. We just acquired a large base. I believe that it would be a good idea to do some training. These children have been through alot and I believe that they deserve some down time and some training."
"I agree. After some rigorous training we can find Jeffery and his descendent with the time device."
"Indeed. First though, we need to clean up our base."
"Hey Freddy?" asked Alex.
"Please don't call me that. What?"
"Why did you have the device back when we were captured?"
"Well, you see. The MECs had put me in a separate holding area because they thought that I was the human. At a certain point they brought in the device to taunt me. They then left it on the table knowing that a normal human couldn't get to it. In that thinking they were correct. Yet I am no normal human. I easily grabbed it and used it to get out because I can," he said with a smile.
"Well we should probably get cleaning."
"Yes we do. Also, we need to make you that stripped wire outfit."
"Dang it! I thought you had forgotten!"
"Us cyborgs never forget anything. I'll make you a deal. If you can beat me to base then I will let you go."
"It's on!" Freddy took off running Alex put on Jacob and sprinted right past Freddy.
