Promises
Chapter one
“Come on, come on, come on.” I chanted repeatedly, just praying that traffic would stop. I only had twelve minutes to get home before I could start the Doctor Who marathon, I still had three miles to run, add that to the non-stop traffic, and I was dying. Landon and I often have marathons of TV shows together, and I chose to watch Matt Smith in all his greatness as the eleventh doctor tonight. To say Landon was annoyed is an understatement. We had been arguing over whether we were going to watch Doctor Who, or How I Met Your Mother. As awesome as I am, I chose Doctor Who. Landon threw a hissy fit, and we argued. It ended in me going for a long run.
I gave up waiting for people to stop, and ran across the street ignoring the car horns. I picked my pace up into a sprint as I turned my music up. I still had a while to run.
I was running up the stairs listening to Miley Cyrus’s Wrecking Ball. Landon’s girlfriend insisted on putting it on my phone. I had heard it a million times, and even I had to admit it was growing on me.
“Don’t you ever say I just walked away I will always want you.” I whisper sang as I shoved the key into the apartment lock. “I can’t live a lie, running for my life, I will always want you.”
I slammed the door and took my sweaty shirt off, throwing it into the laundry room. “I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!” I belted the words out in harmony to Miley’s wonderful vocal cords.
“Ella!” I heard faintly. I took my headphones out and turned towards the living room. Landon sat on the couch with Hope and two strangers. Hope was glaring at me as I realized I was half naked. Oops.
“Yeahhh…. This never happened.” I instructed as I ran for my room followed by their laughter and catcalls.

A knock sounded on the door and I stopped my unpacking to run and open it. A tall muscled man stood in front of me with a smirk.
“Hey, I’m Landon. I live underneath you.” He explained.
“And?”
“My girlfriend asked me to invite you to hang out tonight.” Landon muttered. I laughed slightly. Me? Hang out with him? No way.
“I don’t think so buddy-”
“Of course we will. We’ll be down in thirty minutes.” My brother interrupted. I barely let the man nod before slamming the door in his face.
“Must you be so nice?” I growled.
“Yes, I must.” Jace mumbled.
“Why?”
“It’s in my nature. You’re the dickhead, and I’m the sweetheart. It’s how I get all the women.” Jace winked at me before running to what he claimed was his room.
“Asshole.” I muttered.
“I heard that!” He yelled back.
I slouched on the comfy couch and waited. An awkward silence filled the air. Landon sat next to his girlfriend glaring at me.
“Hi, I’m Hope. Landon’s girlfriend.” She smiled. Why are they dating? Hope had this awful cherry red hair with baby blue eyes, and a tall chubby physique. Don’t get me wrong, I love women. All kinds of women. Tall, short, skinny, fat, it doesn’t matter to me. Bu this one did. Just the look in her eyes would have warned me away. I knew the moment she looked at me. This woman was a cheater. That’s the one thing I can’t stand. Cheaters. Oh, and liars. I hate people who lie and cheat. Honesty is my number one policy.
