I smiled softly, looking at my sleeping daughter. She turns five years old today. Its hard to believe its been that long since I escaped from hell. I shivered slightly, remembering the painful memories. Slowly, Lilly opens her dark blue eyes to look up at me. I smiled, glad she had my eyes, and not her fathers. " I'm sorry baby" I said softly, moving a strand of golden hair away from her eyes. " Go back to sleep." I whispered. My little girl just smiled softly up at me. " No mommy, we have to get up. " Lilly said softly, stretching out her tiny arms and yawning. I frowned, for only being 5, my little girl was extremely mature.

I put on a pouting face, looking at her. She just giggled though, giving me a kiss on my forehead. " Sorry mommy! " She said sweetly. I couldn't help but smile, its hard to believe something so perfect could belong to me. I stood up, picking her up and holding her close. I covered her face with soft kisses. " Remember, mommy loves you" I smiled at her. She nodded, smiling back at me.

I finally pulled my eyes away from my little angel. We were under a bridge, because we didn't have a home. I know...this is a terrible way to raise a child. But I didn't have much of a choice. I had people after me...that wanted me dead. If I ever staid anywhere to long, they would find me. I kept my little angel with me because they'd use her for bait.

Holding Lilly close to me, I quickly picked up our bag and threw it over my shoulder. Lilly held onto me, use to the way we had to live. I quickly walked out from under the bridge, slowly tripping over things and catching my self in the last minute. It was hard to see at night, but that's the only time it's save for us to travel.

The rumbling of Lilly's stomach reminded me that we haven't eaten yet. I frowned, looking at her. I really hated her not growing up in a nice home..with plenty of food and warmth. " Its OK mommy, I only wanna be with you. I don't want anyone else to raise me" Lilly said, knowing what I was thinking.

I kissed her cheek, picking up my pace as I walked. "Guess what my little flower?" I asked her. Lilly smiled brightly at me, " what?" She asked. I smiled as well, " I managed to get enough money so  we can stay in a hotel tonight, and get some actual food. Happy birthday my angel."

Lilly frowned, " I don't want you to waste anything on me mommy... " She said softly. I shook my head, " No, I'm not wasting anything. Don't feel bad Lilly. I'm doing this for you because I want you to be happy. Even if its just for one night." Lilly accepted this, smiling at me. " I'm always happy, I have the best mommy in the world! Thanks for doing this for me mommy" She said, wrapping her little arms around my neck to give me a hug. I smiled, " No problem angel."

I quickly walked to the nearest hotel. It wasn't a bad hotel, it was actually very nice. It was 200$ a night... I had saved up a lot to finally get enough. But I wanted to surprise my angel. I smiled as I walked into the hotel, as usual. Everyone stopped and looked at me...a homeless girl.

I ignored them, going straight to the front desk. I kept Lilly on my hip. " Just a room for tongiht please" I said, bringing out the 200$. The lady just looked at me with a sympathitic look, but one of accusation. I frowned as she reached for the phone, " Oh, I'm sorry. We were out at the park and got a little carried away playing around. We're just visiting here from out of town." I added a sweet smile to my lie. They probably though I kidnapped Lilly, or were going to call CPS and get her taken away from me.

Which I will never let happen.

The lady stopped reaching for the phone, smiling at me appologeticly. " Of course, I'm sorry miss. Your rooms on the second floor, on the left hallway. " The lady said, handing me the card key. I smiled and picked it up. " Thank you." And with that, I hurried to the room.

I quickly slid the card into the key slot, then pushed the door open. I walked into the room and closed the door, locking it. Finally, I sat my little angel down. Then I relaxed, looking around the room. It was simple, not to much, but not to little. It was like paradise to a homeless girl though. I smiled, walking over to the small bathroom in the hotel room. " Come on flower, lets take a shower then go get some food."

Lilly followed me behind, and I helped take off her clothes. I slipped my clothes off my self, then turned on the shower and slipped in. Lilly followed me. We both quickly bathed, and smiled at the relaxing hot water. Also glad to finally be clean. We got out and both wrapped ourselves in towels. I kept the towel around my body, picking up our clothes. Thankfully, this hotel had a place where you could do laundry.

"I'll be back angel." I said, keeping the towel around myself as I opened the door. " Don't open the door for anyone, and stay out of sight from the window." I told her, Lilly smiled up at me. " Yes mommy" She said. Looking at her one last time, I closed the door and hurried to the laundry area. As fast as I could, I threw the laundry in the washer and started it. Once the washer finished, into the dryer they went. I sighed, happy when the dryer finally finished. I grabbed the clothes and ran back to my room, ignoring the weird looks from everyone.

"I'm back angel" I said, opening the door. My jaw dropped at what I saw. My heart stopped, and the clothes fell to the floor. The room was empty...my little angel was gone...and in her place, was a letter. Written in the crimson color of blood... Someone took my flower. The only thing I had to live for...was gone.
