The room was dimly lite but the love filled every inch of the room with light like it does whenever my family meets. But this time it was different, someone else was there with us. She was sitting silently in the corner but she didn't mind, she enjoyed just watching everyoneand being a part of the back round. At first i didn't recognizes her wrinkled fillled face but as her eyes followed me across the room, willing me over to her, I remembered i remembered it all.
I sat next to her, everything about her was the same. Her sweet sutle smell, the gentle loving hands, her deep hazel eyes where if you look in them you will be engulfed in her tender embrace.
The words fell from my mouth as i tried holding back tears "grandma?"
"Sophie???? is that you??" Her face seemed to light up the room as a smile went across her face.
For hours we talked like there was no time in the world. She asked about life and how the family was doing (she missed everyone soo much), she was surprised of how beautiful me and my sister have gotten (the last time she saw us we were 4 and 7), she asked about school and made me promise to try my best. She told me how proud she was that I was following my dream in art.
She also told me about God
"Sweetie, you know that he misses you?" she said with curiosity
"who?"
"God, he misses you. you use to be soo close to him when you were little. you were his little buddy, what changed? "
"I couldnt hear him anymore...i got angry at him, he left me"
she bursted out laughing "oh hunny, he never left you or stopped talking to you, you just choice not to listen"
"What??? I've been trying to listen... why doesn't he speak louder???? It feels like he doesn't care about me anymore"
She put her hand on my shoulder and looked me in the eyes " Child, he has always been there, open your heart and let him in, hes waiting"
She kissed my forehead and hugged me tight
"i love you soo much, darling...Send the family my love"
"wait?!?!?!?!"
She smiled and waved goodbye.
I woke up with tears on my pillow
