Annabeth POV
We’ve been fighting for ages now, but monsters just kept coming and coming. The battle against Gaea isn’t going so well. We need backup. I know that Piper Iris Messaged Chiron and re-enforcements are on the way, both Greek and Roman. After the Great Greek vs. Roman war, it resulted in a bloody and devastating tie when Reyna reached and literally smacked Octavian in the head with the Athena Parthenon. Now that reinforcements are coming, we are trying to stay in the game, but they’re not due to come for another 3 hours and 3 hours in battle is life threatening to all. Leo was summoning as much fire as possible and was tiring fast, Jason had started his own lighting storm, Piper had monsters kissing her feet, Hazel was summoning tons of precious metal from the ground, flicking them at all monsters, Frank had turned himself into a dragon and had the blessing of Ares (or Mars, whichever you prefer) upon him, and Percy had a whole hurricane building up. I was using my dagger every place I could stick it. I had golden dust all over me and my hair; can’t wait to take a shower, if I came out alive that is.
The monster just kept coming and coming, but I could see Gaea coming in the body of a mere demigod. Oh my Gods, it’s just like the situation with Luke. Right then, a monster knocked me off my feet. I stood up immediately and shook my head. Focus, Annabeth, I have to do this. I kicked the monster in the head and while it was distracted, stuck my dagger in his stomach and it exploded into gold dust. I looked around me to see that this wave of monsters had stopped, thank the Gods, but that wasn’t the end of it. Gaea was leading a whole new wave of monsters, hellhounds, giants, and more.
Oh Gods, what are we going to do now? Many Gods and demigods were working together defeating one giant at a time. Suddenly, I felt my back hit something and I swirled around finding myself face to face with Percy. We smiled at each other and fight anything back to back.
After about 2 hours of fighting, I see many new ship coming and land right next to us. I caught a glimpse of Nico, Reyna, and Coach Hedge (with a bat swinging and screaming bloody murder) ready to go to battle. The doors of all the ships swing open and hundreds of demigods start pouring out screaming, running toward any monster that comes in the way. Suddenly, there were fireworks of gold dust everywhere as Greek and Roman heroes alike go into battle. It was admiring to see, but I couldn’t let that distract me.
I see Percy working with Nico now. Together, they were unstoppable until Percy turned around. Nico was face to face with Gaea (and her new body).
“Soon I’ll be unstoppable. Come with me, join my side Nico and together we can take over the world and the human race!” Gaea said in her voice that we’ve been hearing for years. She had a sword in hand and slashed.
“NO, DON’T, PLEASE!” Percy screeched as he jumped in front of Nico, taking the slash for himself. I watched in horror as Percy fell to the ground spitting out blood and calling my name. In complete shock, I ran toward Gaea and stabbed her in the heart.
“How did you did you know, how? This… is not the last… of me, Annabeth Chase. Mark my words.” She crumbled to dust. I ran to Percy with my cheeks stained with tears trails that marked my dirty face and feel straight into him.
“Percy, Percy, you’re going to be alright. You’ll be fine Percy. You listening Percy, you’ll be…” I had started to sob.
“Wise girl, it’ll be okay. I’ll see you in Elysium, Wise Girl,” he said weakly. He smiled, winked, then he went limp. The final wave was gone Gaea was defeated.
“Don’t you dare dying on me now, Jackson, DON’T YOU DARE…” Nico screamed choking back a sob.
“PERCY, PERCY, PERCY, PERCY STOP, YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE ME LIKE THIS, PERCY COME BACK! PERRCCYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I couldn’t contain myself. I started to sob and I took one look at Nico and shot straight up.
“Why couldn’t you have saved him? You were closest. Use the dead! Bring him back NOW,” I screeched my head off. Nico just looked down at Percy and started crying. Jason reached out to hug him, but he just ran off.
“Annabeth, maybe you shouldn’t have…” Chiron started.
“Shouldn’t have what? Talked to him that way? HE DESERVES IT! He killed Percy and…” I stopped and thought about it, “Maybe I shouldn’t have. It wasn’t his fault. It’s just that Percy… and… Nico… they were.” I didn’t know what to say. I made lost two people in one day. Can my life get any worse?
