The cold, crisp air fills the streets as I walked down the street that December night. The trees swayed in the wind as I walked down the street, noticing a flickering street lamp in as I walked up to my apartment building. It normally flickered once or twice but this time it was about every 5 seconds. I starred at it and then the whole street went black. Reacting quickly, i went to the entrance of my apartment building and shut the door behind me. I breathed heavily, standing there not knowing how to react.

I walked slowly up the stairs to my flat and opened the door. It was dark. I turned on my phone to have some light while i tried finding some candles to light. I stumbled around the dark rooms as I found a few candles. As I was lighting the candles with only a small box of matches, I heard a scratching noise at my front door. I slowly walked to the door and put my hand on the frigid doorknob.

I opened the door a little bit and looked outside. Darkness. Something rubbed against my leg as I slammed the door and locked it. I now knew something was in my apartment, but I don't what. With such little light, I could only see in one room. I called my friend Avery and it turned out the black out got to his house too. "so i'm not the only one" I said to myself. But Avery isn't alone, he has his roommate there and they both can easily deal with it. I met Avery back in high-school When I became a sophomore. I'm alone. I don't really know anyone in the building since I don't socialize that much, So I was stuck in darkness.

It was 10:30 p.m

It grew colder as the candle wax slowly melted down the candle, making it shorter than it was and hour earlier. I felt like something was watching me in the darkness of my small house, I heard slight movement, just loud enough to hear it. Barely.

12:00 a.m

The light grew dim as I slowly drifted off to sleep, hoping that the lights will eventually come back on.
