I sat on bed with fear, pressing my head against the wall, with my knees pulled up to my chest. My parents were fighting for hours which seemed like days. My father was untrustworthy, he lived a double life, sometimes leaving and not returning for a weeks time. Mum barged into the door with a duffle bag. "We're leaving." She said. I could see that she had been crying, her cheeks were stained by mascara. I stood up in shock "where will we go?" I asked. " don't you worry sweetheart, we will find somewhere."
I helped her pack my bags and my mum tightly gripped my hand leading me to the front door as my dad stood there. That was the last time I saw that unfaithful asshole.

5 years later..
I leaned the side of my head against the car window and watched as the rain fell from the sky.

"You can at least look happy." Mum spoke. " This is a fresh start, no more living in crappy hotels." She cheered.

"I wonder what my next high school will be like." I asked.

"It's great that you're continuing school, it's time you lived a little, get a boyfriend, party oh and study, you better study real hard as well."

We both laughed.

"Look at that." Mum pointed.

When I looked up it was a sign that said "Welcome to Cherryville" this was it no turning back now, I put my earphones in laying my head back resting my eyes.

"Wake up." Mum kept nudging me.

"Okay, Okay I'm up." I pulled the earphones out my ears and rubbed my eyes to see that the weather cleared up and we were parked outside a beautiful two story house.

"Is this ours?" I asked.

She shook her head with a massive smile on her face.

I screamed "how did you afford this?"

"I pulled some strings."

I pulled the lever to open the back of the car. While I was leaving the car I saw a family come running over from across the street. Mum stood next to me, leaning against the car. The family was made up of a woman and two men.
"Hi, we're the Smiths." The women said as she was walking towards us.

"Hi, My name is Katrina and this is my daughter Caitlin." Mum said while putting her hands around my waist and smiling.

"This is my Husband George, My name is  Danielle and my son Parker." Her son merged behind his parents and reached his hand out towards my mother and I.

"Hey love? maybe you could help Caitlin and Katrina move their stuff into their new house." Ms Smith suggested.

"Of course." Parker insisted.

I started grabbing our luggage and leading towards the front door with Parker behind me.

"Oh, Shit." I said.

"What's wrong?" I forgot the keys.

I gently placed everything on the floor and ran off to get the keys from mum.

"Sorry, I took to long." I said.

"Don't worry about it, let's just start unpacking."
"So what school have you enrolled into?" Parker said while grabbing a Stanley knife out of his back pocket to cut through the tape on the box.

"Cherryville South High School." I responded.

"I go there too, I could show you around tomorrow if you'd like."

"Yeah, of course, thank you." I said.

"You're welcome." Parker replied.

After a long day of unpacking, the Smiths invited us over for dinner. Mum and Danielle got a long so well, so did Parker and I. Before dinner was serve, Parker invited me up to his room. I walked around his room, look at every photo and antique. I found a helmet with the number 8 on it. "You play football?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course, it's so good." Parker said.
"How old are you?"
"16, what about you?"
"Same." I said.

"Parker and Caitlin, dinner Is ready!" Danielle yelled from downstairs.

Mum and the smiths were drinking wine and laughing, while I sat at the table, stabbing the peas on the plate with my fork. Parker leaned over and whispered "This is Boring do you want to go for a drive?" He said.

"Um, okay." I responded.

Parker and I stood up from the table with eyes all on us from the parents. "Caitlin and I are going to go for a drive while you guys have fun here." Parker spoke.

"Okay darling, be back before ten."

"Okay." Parker said while opening the front door for me.

*^*
"Where are we going." I said.

"To our high school, I'll show you around."

"But it's 8:30 at night on a Sunday, isn't that trespassing?"

"Yeah, but it's okay to break the rules sometimes." He smiled.

"Okay, I barley know you and already you want to get me in trouble."

"I'll make a deal with you, if we get caught, you run and I will distract them." He said.

"Okay, deal."

"So this is the main hall and over here is the cafeteria and through that door there is the boys gym lockers, that's where we go before a game to get ready." Parker said.

"Thanks for showing me around, but probably by tomorrow I'll forget everything you have shown me." I giggled.

"Oh, let's go inside the gym." Parker ran around the corner into two doors.

He threw me a ball and asked for me to challenge him. I resist at first but then decided to play. I honestly was so bad at basketball, I've always been bad at sports, when I was four I had a ball to the face which made me break my nose so I wasn't into sports at all!

After a restless hour, Parker and I sat on the court, with our legs crossed bouncing the ball to each other.

"Why did you decide to move here?" Parker asked.

"We moved here to have a Fresh start and to meet new people."

"Is your father with you?" Parker hesitantly asked.

"No, he left us about five year ago."

"Sorry to hear that."

I reached my hand in my back pocket to grab my phone to look at the time. "Oh shit, it's almost ten." I said.
Both of us got up leaving the ball in the middle of the court.

"10 on the dot, good to know you follow the rules Parker." Mum giggled.

"I think you've had a bit too much to drink." I said putting her arm around her shoulder.
"Thanks for taking me out tonight Parker." I yelled.

"No problems, we should do that more often." Parker said while standing with his parents at the front door. I walked mum back to the house, opening the door and placing her to bed.

"That young boy Parker is a cutie isn't he." Mum said as I was tucking her into bed. I puffed as mum said that. "OMG you think he's cute don't you?" Mum questioned again.

"Mum you're drunk time for be-

"Do you think he would be into older women." Mum said.

"Mum he's underage and that's called pedophilia, second of all he's not my type and last but not least you're drunk, time for bed."

I kissed mum on the forehead and turned the light off in her new bedroom. The house wasn't completely decorated, but we managed to set up bedrooms. Mum gave me an upstairs room with a balcony, it's was beautiful and I knew that it would be a good spot to do home work and other things, this was the firsts day in Cherryville, now for the first time back at a new high school.
