The Deep Sleeper
This is less a tale of insanity than a nearly inhuman capability.
It was mid-October, about 6:30 in the morning, and the eighth grade class was on its way to Gettysburg. As the sun rose it revealed our prince, Mr. Rico, asleep in the front row of seats. The bus had been rather chatty already, but after nearly an hour and a half on the road rowdiness couldn't be kept at bay much longer. The sound barrier of morning broke with an explosion of noise and rambunctiousness. Over the following hour or so he continued to sleep, the stem of a lollipop visible against his beard. During most of the following hours of the ride he continued to sleep through the mounting tumult.
