Jason reached his office. He checked some documents on his table. The name Matteo Wolf was in every paper. He took the documents with him and got out of the room. Jason then saw his helper, Tim.
"So, where is he?"
Tim was a young man. Although his blonde hair was all messed up, indicating his stressful life, he wore a business suit and appropriate glasses.
"He is downstairs in the interrogation chamber."
"Has anyone already asked him or something?"
Tim rubbed his left eye. It seemed he was still a little sleepy. He realized he was in a silly situation and spoke as fast as possible,
"No. Everyone is saying you should be the first one."
"Good job Tim."
Jason made a few steps forward, which let Tim have more time to rub his eyes, but then Jason remembered to ask something and turned back. The situation was even more awkward for Tim this time. Jason asked.
"What about the press? They should be swarming these days. Any sign of them?"
"Actually, a journalist came yesterday, but one of our people said that there would be nothing to see for probably 5 more days."
"Yes, that is better. Okay Tim, see you later."
Tim spoke with his awkward nerdy voice.
"Bye."
Jason stepped downstairs while greeting everyone in the hall. They were all congratulating him for his job. He walked proudly in the hall underground and reached a dark door on the left. Two guards were staying in front of the door. One smiled at Jason, while the other one opened the room with his key. Jason entered the interrogation room. It seemed nicely built with a table in the middle and 4 sofas on each corner of the room. Although the concept of the room was really good, it was not actual anymore, because the room hadn't been restored since a long time and now it looked old. The sofas were all ripped off and the table was dirty. But there were cameras on every corner and a light control button, allowing the interrogator to do his job. Khan was sitting on one of the sofas. The handcuffs didn't allow him to move his hands, but he could walk. Jason sat on the chair next to the white dirty table and looked at him. But Matteo wasn't making any move. His head was down, staring at the floor. Jason spoke.
"So you are the infamous Khan."
Matteo raised his head to look at the man. He could see the man who brought the end of his career. He looked at Jason for a couple of seconds and then stared at the floor again. Jason was quiet.
"You must feel terrible now. Your life has no meaning. If I let you free, your "friends" will probably find you and kill you for treason."
Matteo spoke for the first time.
"And why is that?"
Jason put the documents on the table.
"Well, none of my suspects has ever left without telling me everything they know."
Khan laughed a little ironically.
"You think I care what happens to me? My entire life was in that kingdom. Now that I failed, everything is ruined for me."
Jason looked at his papers.
"It seems you were a good German businessman before joining them, or maybe, you had already joined them by that time."
He skipped on another page.
"Raised in a modest family. Your father was a butcher and your mother was a housewife. Isn't that strange for a German family?"
Khan laughed ironically again.
"And what do you know? My father was too antisocial, never understood why. He prepared the meat, while my mother would sell it. Fortunately the university there is free and I managed to get good marks and establish what I wanted."
Jason was looking at him. He took his glasses off.
"You established the "Westfleich" food company. Which is currently in fourth place in Germany as meat producer."
"You are right..."
Jason was a little confused.
"Why would you ever leave this? For a criminal life? It doesn't make any sense, does it? If you were the owner of this huge company why would you leave?"
Matteo was looking at the floor again.
"You are a fool man. I tell you what I want to tell. You can't force a professional man like me."
Jason looked at his documents again.
"You were never seen since you left the company. You passed it to a friend of yours. Some people even thought you were dead after you left. What happened?"
Matteo didn't answer. Jason raised the light intensity at his eyes. Khan closed his eyes and lowered his head even more. Jason closed his documents.
"Interesting. Very interesting indeed. You know? ... I look like a calm investigator right now, but I assure you I can change that any moment."
Khan spoke while sweat was appearing in his forehead, because of the light intensity.
"Stupid young man."
