Aubree's P.o.v

Four months. That's how long me and Ashley haven't been together. She's all alone. Part of me, the physical part, wants to collapse, cry, give up. The other part however is stronger. More determined. The faith and hope I have in that little girl is what keeps me moving forwards. We agreed that is anything ever happened where we got separated we'd go to fort worth. So that's where I'm heading. There's a small town up ahead I can get there and rest. Maybe go to the bar and get a drink. God know I could use it
*2 hours later *
My feet throb as I approach the abandon bar. Looking around I softly knocked on the door and hear Deadites start to stumble towards the door. After I heard them snarl and growl against the door I opened it quickly. The first one lunged at me, and I side stepped quickly and plunged my knife into it's skull. I felt it's blood spray my cloths and face. Then I threw the now motionless body at the second deadite making it fall. I quickly straddled it and stabbed it through it's brain. Standing up I sighed while walking and closed the door behind me. When I looked around the bar nothing really stood out, just a standard, boring bar. Luckily for me I didn't have to look far to find a bottle of none other than Jack Daniels. A ghost of a smile creeps on my face as I remember my first drink with my first and only love...
"Come on Aub! Don't be a sissy just take a drink! "
Daryl said poking the half empty bottle in my face.
"Your such a bad influence. Plus Ashley's just in the back!"
I said pointing a finger at the back of his truck while we sat on the bed of it. "Yea but she's asleep come on... Pussy!"
"What'd you just call me Dixon?"
"Ya heard me Johnson."
With my pride taking over I snatched the bottle from his hand.
"I ain't no Pussy!"
I said loudly. Daryl smirked and replied, "Prove it then."
With fake confidence I tilted the bottle back the hot liquid burned my throat and I spit it out before it could get to my stomach and I was breathless. While I looked at the ground trying to catch my breath I heard Daryls deep laughter beside me. After a second with a smile on my face I lightly smacked Daryls arm.
"Dick head." I croaked from a sore throat. Then we looked at each other. And we just... kept laughing.
For the first time in months I smiled. Sure I thought about both Daryl and Ashley non-stop, but when I think of when Daryl and I were kids. Before we fell in love before all of this. A certain bliss over comes me. Like I'm in my own little bubble with just Daryl and Ashley. I wish he was here. He always was a better tracker than me. Also so he can just... hold me.. like how he used to when we were little. Before Ashley was born. After dad would have his drunken fits and beat me. Taking another drink I sighed. I better get back on the road I thought while walking to the door. But just before I got there I stopped. I just felt like I was missing something. I turned back around and looked back at the bar. Nothing. What if I look down? Going on a hunch I looked below me and saw I was standing on a map. Picking it up I noticed it had writing on it. It said
Aubree. I marked the path I'm taking to fort Benning. Follow it and maybe we'll see each other. I figured you'd need a drink. 😂
                                    -Ashley
My eyes widened. ASHLEY!!!! My mind  screamed. Oh my god. This is my chance. It looks like there's a highway leading straight towards it. It was marked with dirt and something else to make it stick probably spit. But I wasn't thinking about that. Bolting out the door my eyes scanned for a car. Running to it I opened the door with a loud creak. I pulled off the panel under the steering wheel and exposed all the wires. Using my knife I cut two of them and rubbed them together. Silently thanking Daryl for teaching me I stepped on the gas to head for Fort Benning
