Chapter 6

Chapter 6:

"Hello?"

No answer.

"Anyone home?"

I see a shadow pass beside me. What was that?

"Home so soon Nicole?"

Suddenly my dad walks out of the shadows, a big grin on his face.

"DADDY!"

I run into his arms. It's been two months since he left for his business trip. I missed him so much.

"When did you get back? No one even told me!"

"Your brother came and got me. I told him not to tell you or your mother. I'm going to surprise her when she gets home."

I smiles hugging him once more. This is such an amazing surprise.

"Are you here to stay?" I ask curiously

He frowns a little. "I'm only here for 2 weeks and then they are sending me off to Tokyo to get more people on board. I'm sorry sweetie. I tried."

My heart drops a little but I still smile.

"At least we have these two weeks."

He chuckles."I've got to go out and get your mom some flowers for the surprise. Will you be ok here?"

"Dad! I'm almost 18. I'm not a kid anymore. I know how to take care of myself."

He smiles moving the hair out of my face."I know. I still see you as my baby though. We will talk later ok? Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone!"

He smiles and grabs his keys walking out the door. How did I not notice his car outside? So stupid. I walk upstairs to my room and start to undress when I hear my door.

"Jake your not the sneaky and I'm not deaf."

Jake walks in laying down on my bed. God he has so many mixed emotions. I don't get it. I continue changing like he wasn't there.

"Nicole"

"What Jake?"

"Why are our lives so complicated? Can I just not be your brother."

Ouch.

"Thanks a lot" I mumble

His eyes look at me and widen. "No! That's not what I ment. God ugh. I mean I'd rather be not related so I could.... Never mind."

"What?" My step brother has issues if no one has noticed.

"I know I seem rude and forceful at times but it's just because your perfect and I'm stuck being your fucking brother. I can't take you out on dates or. Or kiss you in public. Because we are "related"." he put up his hands to signal air quotes. "So I do what I can and what makes me feel a little better.... Like the other night. I'm sorry I just. I can't take it.

Yup he has issues. But I guess I'm right there with him.

"I admit it. I'm arrogant and preppy and love the boy attention. Even from you. We seriously both are not in our right minds but hey. That's not all bad is it?"

I put on a large T-shirt and lay next to him. "Our lives are jacked up"

Jake moved over wrapping his arms around my waist and I cuddle up to him laying my head on my pillow.

"Yea"he mumbles "but maybe I like it this way."

I end up falling asleep, just like that. I never knew I could be so exhausted until I woke up full of energy. I'm still cuddled up to jake as he is also asleep, his breath heavy in his chest. Aw how cute. I slip out of his arms and put on some sweat pants walking downstairs.

I open the fridge and my tummy growls loudly. I'm starving. Last thing I had was that sandwich at Michael's house. I look at the clock.

Holy shit. It's 9:00. We slept for 3 hours. Where are my parents? I grab a honey bun from the cabinet and walk upstairs toward their room when I hear grunting and a moan.

NOPE! I turn my happy butt back around and beeline it for my room. Nasty I mean I know what I do and all but it's my parents! I don't want to witness that.. I finish my honey bun and get back in bed with jake. He's not going to his bed tonight. I can tell. He wakes up a little.

"Nicole?"

"Mm?"

"Where'd you go. "

He's so cute when he's sleepy. God dammit I know how he feels now.

"I went and got a snack and to check on our parents."

"Where are they?"

"Oh you know the usual get back together sex."

He chokes his eyes widening."Nicole!"

"What! It's true."

He smiles and pulls me back into the bed kissing my forehead. "Go back to sleep."

I rest my head relaxing and eventually doze off thinking about everything. Let's face it. My life is insane but it's the insanity I love.

I thought I'd make a sweet chapter and just make it clear that JAKE AND NICOLE HAVE ISSUES. But that's what makes the book good ;)
