My feelings for Dylan were easy for anyone to read. When a picture was released of him hanging out with another female aside from me, my lips would form into a straight like. If he hugged me or pecked the crown of my head, I always blushed from his sweet gesture. If we had one small argument, I would be the one crying my eyes out like I'd lost the most valuable thing on the planet.

Sadly, my best friend couldn't see this. He didn't know that my heart pounded so hard in my chest when he spoke to me and only me. He didn't know that the selfies we took on my phone held a lot more meaning than they should have between us as best friends. He didn't know that I would die on the inside when he asked a girl out and that girl didn't happen to be me. He didn't know that for a few months now, I fell deeply in love with him.

We were climbing the steps of an old abandoned building, our fingers lightly intertwined. It was dark inside and Dylan made sure that I stayed by his side the whole time we made our way to his destination. Just the memory of him telling me to keep close a few minutes ago made my smile. But he wouldn't know that.

He called me earlier in the day because he said that he needed to show me something. I don't know what it was exactly but whatever it was, it was going to be great. Dylan had tricks up his sleeve that even surprised the boy himself.

We came to a sudden stop, my body colliding into Dylan's but not too hard. In moments, he was pushing what was possibly a door and bright lights filled my vision. Being in the dark for a period of time made you feel like you were entering the Gates of Heaven.

"Here it is." he said, his voice holding a possible smile.

My eyesight cleared and that's when I took in a sharp inhale as I exited the dark building. The sun had begun to set, painting the sky a pinkish-violet color. Below us, the lights of the smaller buildings twinkled on like stars in the night sky. A small number of cars passed, the usual honking in the daytime being silent. People leisurely walked up and down the sidewalks to take in the nice scenery of the evening. It was so calm and peaceful.

"What do you think?" Dylan asked me.

I stood close to the edge of the building but not too close to where I could risk my life. "I love it. It's so quiet up here. And beautiful. How'd you know about this place?"

"A good ole game of hide and seek did the trick when I was a kid. One of my friends parents used to work here until they shut this place down and moved it somewhere else." he explained.

"Really?" I chuckled, not believing a word he said. He did tend to joke around a bit.

"Really. I would spend hours hiding up here and that was because the adults never allowed the kids to come up here. They feared that a child would tumble off the building while playing roughly. But even back then I was a rebel. I'd sneak out here when no one was looking and hide. Eventually, I would go back inside and everyone would be questioning where I was."

"What'd you tell them?"

"Magic. I told them that it was magic."

"Jesus Christ, you're an idiot! And they actually believed you?"

"Yeah. But I felt that the owner of the building knew where I was but he never told me to stop. I remember one particular time where as soon as the kid started counting, the man looked at me as if telling me to go hide in my usual spot."

"Well, you are a charmer." I sighed. Really, it was because Dylan had managed to take my heart away. But it was also because he could get away with literally anything but never took advantage of it.

We stood in silence for a few minutes. A breeze came by, goosebumps forming on my exposed arms and shorts-clad legs. My reflexes kicked in and I rubbed my arms to relieve myself of the sudden chill.

"You cold?" I didn't have enough time to respond because Dylan was already placing his jacket on my shoulders. "Better?"

"Yeah." I silently answered. That wasn't something he normally did for me. "Why'd you bring me up here?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, because you're my best friend. You're actually the first person that I've shown this to."

"I should feel special, shouldn't I?" I smirked. I was currently dying on the inside of happiness.

"You should."

We looked at each other with genuine smiles until Dylan's faded away. He now looked at me with curious eyes. "Can I try something?" he asked me.

"Sure." That came out more like a question rather than an answer because I was suddenly confused.

Dylan took a step closer to me, eyes locked on something below my eyes. He placed his hand on my cheek, pulling me closer but delicately as if I would break in his palm. He glanced into my eyes once again before leaning down to plant a kiss to my lips.

It didn't take me long to kiss Dylan back without hesitance. My stomach was filled with a million butterflies that expressed happiness. To show him that I wasn't a China doll, I wrapped my arms around his neck and made sure to press my body against his like I didn't want to let him go. His hands left my face to rest on my waist, his fingers squeezing my sides gently.

I had to eventually pull away for air, much to Dylan's dismay. I chuckled at the groan that slipped from his lips.

"Really?" he said, holding me tightly.

"I have to breathe, don't I?" I giggled. Like a shy child, I placed me head on his chest.

He pulled me away from my little hiding spot by my chin, staring into my eyes. "Sorry. But I wanted to tell you that I also brought you up here so I could do that. Too many eyes could ruin the moment."

"Thanks." I pecked his lips.
