♪♫ Shake off the weight of the world from your shoulders,

We've got nothing to prove ♫♪

"Niall I have to tell you something." Lacey approaches him as they lounge around in another hotel.

"Are you alright?" he asks her a very popular question between the two of them.

"I'm worried about my mental health." she admits without beating around the bush like she usually does.

"You're worried about your mental health?" his eyebrows crinkle together in confusion at her absurd comment.

"Niall," she avoids his question about her previous statement, "Do you want to go do something crazy with me?"

He nods because he's curious of what's going on with Lacey right now. She seems a bit jittery to Niall.

"Let's go." she takes him by the hand and leads him to do something for the first time in awhile.

She leads him up the elevators to a place they aren't allowed to go. Niall grows the tiniest bit more worried as time goes by.

Lacey stops and stares at Niall for a moment. She examines his brown roots growing from his bleached hair.

His blue eyes that are lighter than usual. He notices that she's staring, and takes the chance to do the same as her.

He takes in her dark brown hair thats tucked behind her ears with multiple piercings. Her usual grey-green eyes are a dark emerald.

He licks his dry lips the longer he stares. "Come on Niall." she interrupts their moment and pulls him up through the doors to the roof of the hotel.

She quickly drags her feet to the edge to stand up and stare down.

"Lace, I don't like it when you stand right there." his voice shakes as he speaks. He isn't sure if he should go over there and grab her or if she'd do something dumb if he went over.

"Remember when we went out for a party the first night?"

He nods slowly.

"And that night where I got all dressed up at the bar and we had the best night of our lives? The best night, next to the night I approached you for the first time?"

She wanders back and forth at the edge of the building. He has to close his eyes because if he stares it only hurts more.

"Of course." he nods again.

"And when we went on that drive?" she asks one more time.

"Those were my favorite nights!" she exclaims using big gestures. Niall flinches and takes a step forward because he's scared she's going to fall.

"I loved those nights too, Lacey. What's your point?" he asks worriedly.

"I like them better than sitting at home and being safe. I'd rather do something stupid and get arrested than be comfortable."

"Lacey that's awesome." he says softly, shaking his head at her.

"That's wrong of me!" she shouts at him angrily.

"You're young! There's nothing wrong with wanting to do crazy things!" he scolds back to her.

She turns around and looks down from the top. The people look so small from up there.

"You think so?" she asks quietly. She knows Niall has taken the opportunity to come closer now that she's not looking.

"Whatever makes you happy." he says equally as quietly.

"It doesn't just make me happy." she laughs sadly.

"It gives you a rush." he knows exactly what she's thinking.

"For you too?" she asks him nervously. She flicks around on the heels of her feet and holds onto his shoulders for support.

She's getting so nervous and her knees are weak. Now she's scared of falling.

"I get it too." he looks at her with amazement. She nods and pushes him away for a second.

Her hands fiddle with a small container in her hoodies pocket. She brings it out slowly and watches as Niall's face drops.

"I've only taken three of these since we've been on this trip." she tells him before he can say anything.

He goes to snatch them, but she pulls them away. She rips the top to the pill bottle off and begins to dump them from the side of the hotel.

Niall doesn't know how exactly to respond to her dumping them goodbye.

"I used to want to jump off of this building." she shouts as she's still faced away from him. She stares up at the sky in wonder.

Her feet quickly turn her around and her eyes lock on Niall's again.

"But you make me better Niall." she exclaims, jumping off of the edge down to the lower roof again.

"I just realized that I love doing that. And I love that feeling but the only thing I need to feel alive is you." Her arms wrap around him as she admits her love for him.

He always knew he loved her, but she never admits it the way she does right now. "Thank you." she whispers into his neck as her head rests on his shoulder.

She grabs his hand again and they go to the edge to sit. She lays on him as his legs dangle over the edge.

The truth is that it makes him nervous, but it makes her happy.
