Samual stared at the time worn wood of his front door. Dust particles stirred in the air around him, dancing in the light. He turned away into the dull, dust coated kitchen, to idle around until Damian woke up. Turning on the gas stove, he felt the heat against his face. His burnt green eyes closed and thin lps became invisible as he pressed them together.

"What are you doing?"

Samual's eyes jolted open. He turned in a quick pivot on the smooth tiled floor. Damian stood behind him, in front of the window. His dark hair in an slovenly mess upon his head. He needed to shave badly, but Samual didn't say so.

"Are you h-hungry" Samual couldn't help his stammering. He had it since he could talk. shyly, his eyes cast downwards.

"If your cooking..... i'm good!"Damian let out a deep guffaw.

"But, there are more interesting things to talk to about..."Damian shifted closer, but somehow his feet stirred no dust. Samual couldn't help the whimper from departing his mouth.

"I c-cant! You k-k-know that!p-please d-d-d-d-"

Damians answering laugh was so intense, Samual was sure the whole world heard. "Your kidding right?you must be because...." Damian laughed again. Samual cowered under Damian's looming figure.

"I-i-i-i c-cant!"

"I just can't believe this!" Damian's words turned into acid, "i won't stay if you don't do this! i will leave you alone..."

Samual tried to stop them but the tears slid down his face like sparkling diamonds. He caught them in his hand and tried to focus on them. Trying to hold on to his humanity; to his sanity. " ok." Samual murmured so quietly he wasn't sure if Damian had heard. But Damian ran at him, grabbing him into a hug that tilted his head back till he was blinded by the mid-morning sun.

Samual awoke to the scent of blood. sitting up,he observed his mirror to see hard dried up clumps of blood on his face, dark hair, and wide hands. Samual, in shock felt no need to cry, no pain in his empty chest.

"Do you feel it? Its strength. The idea that life can be can taken at the stroke of a hand. At how fragile it really is and how great it felt to take it. When the screams deafen you, and the blood blinds you. The surging power, the rage, it is overwhelming."

Samual turned to see Damian hissing in his ear.The ringing in them would not go away.Samual whirled away, his feet moving effortlessly over the wooden floor. Damian followed gloating. Samual moved outside and lurched over something soft and wet.Samual opened his eyes to a horror worse than death. But then, it was death he was looking at. A pale women, her eyes still opened in petrified panic. But the blue was glazed and her lips still. Her breath having long ago frozen to a timeless slumber. Samual crawled away from the front door as fast as he could. His pants became wet in the early morning dew. At his freshly painted garage,Samual stole inside trying to leave the gleeful Damian behind. Samual weeped for Damian to leave, to never come back. but Damian echoed over and over, "I will never leave, my promise, my promise." In an effort to get away, Samual tried to stand. He wasn't sure why; maybe to run, or maybe even to strike Damian, but his wobbly legs could not hold him. Samual crashed to the floor, his swaying arm knocking a gas can on top of himself. He froze on the cold cement floor, then smiled. Flipping around he grabbed a fallen, blue lighter. Samual flipped it on and the dancing Damian froze, his eyes going wide. He lunged at Samual his green eyes wild with anger. His arms whirling in a panic to reach Samual. But Samual took no notice and just turned his back on the man in the mirror.
