"Naomi."

"Jess."

The air was filled with tension. Naomi felt as if she were going to die. But if she played her cards right, maybe she wouldn't. "I have a favor to ask of you." She whispered pathetically. "B-before you say anything, please, hear me out."

"Go on." The alpha female's lips curled in a grimace, as if the sheer thought of listening to the low ranked wolf was painful. "I won't wait all day."

"I know your secret. I know you'll never have children for your... mate." Naomi winced. "But I can give you the chance to raise one." Jess's eyes narrowed. "How did you find out about-" "That doesn't matter now. You know it's against the law for Omegas to have pups, and take care of them or have them, but you can. You can save my daughter."

"You're pregnant?" Jess growled, "You could be executed for that." "Yes-I know. That's why I want you to take her. She'll be safe in your hands. You're the alpha female, the Alpha's...Mate." She regretted saying those words, but she had to. "And Alpha doesn't know that you can't have pups, so it's perfect."

"You're right. I can't not deliver a pup to him. When is the pup due?" Jess asked, a snarl still evident on her face.

"Two months. Meet me back here, and... I'll go into hiding until she's born after a month and a half. Meet me when the moon is darkest, when even the moon goddess herself can't see my crime."

"I'll meet you exactly here. Get out when you can. I'll help you, if at all possible." Jess hated the Omega, Naomi, dearly, as she was her mate's original "mate", but everyone knew Omegas can't have mates! They were borne into that position, and would stay there until death.

Naomi turned away, tears welling up in her eyes, but she forced them away. "See you back at the pack-house. Or not." She walked back through the forest, head hung low.

It was time for Jess to get back to her mate as well, for he'd be worrying for her. And she had to break the news to him that she was "pregnant." she hoped the pup looked at least a bit like her. But if not, there were certain rules that could be followed for the pup to follow in his mothers' footsteps...

And so Jess laughed wickedly, for Naomi would die before she could even know her own pup, Jess would make sure of it. Then an Omega would be required.

Naomi stumbled off, panting and sweaty. She'd just given birth and left her baby. There was no doctors, no lover by her side, she didn't even have her baby anymore. Did she trust Jess with her child? She had no choice but to trust that Jess would love her as her own.

How Jess deals after this is none of her concern. She'd disowned her child under the no-moon, where no one could see, not even them. She didn't even know what the child looked like... But maybe it was better that way. She'd made one request before she left, to fulfill the other part of their deal, which Jess had made just before she'd gone into labor.

She wouldn't come back. She'd go off and die, let the rogues get her. And that's exactly what she intended to do. Her life for the kid's, and that was that.
