Burn

This is off of the Monster Apartments AU after Tom and Tord got their apartment.

Tord stared at his phone in hand. He stood in the middle of the sidewalk, horrified. He bolted off of the sidewalk, leaving baffled pedestrians to look his way. Wind whipped his hair, bending the hair horns by his ears. Tord pushed his way up steep hills, claws scraping the pavement. Tords eyes swept over the houses, looking at the addresses. Fear gripped his stomach as he approached the Monster apartments. Horror showed in Tords red eyes as he watched the flames engulf the top of the building. Fire elementals and water sorcerers scoured the building. Cars created a barricade around the building, horns blaring. Ambulances and fire extinguishers scattered the outside of the building. Tord kept running, his feet begging him to give up, to stop and look around, to be logical. But Tord didn't plan on going that route anytime soon. He jumped effortlessly over a bright red truck, spotting an orange hairdo in the distance.
"Matt!" Tord frantically yelled. The ginger turned around, a horrified expression on his face.
"Wher-" Tord stopped to catch his breath.
"Where's Tom" Tord panted out, seeing Edd beside him. Edds face fell, refusing to look him in the eye. Tord realized with sudden shock that Tom was still inside the building. The burning building. Tords eyes widened, and he bolted for the apartment entrance.
"Tord no!" Edd called after him. A brick fell in front of him, followed by numerous others. In seconds, rumbling and clacking sounds rang from the roof of the building. Tord shifted into a half form, wings providing a shelter. A woman streamed from the door, hiding under Tords wings. Tord shot her a glare, but she returned it with a sorrowful cry.
"Who else is in there?" Tord asked fearfully.
"A-a man, a boy, he's helping a couple get out." She stammererd. A firefighter grabbed the woman's wrist, holding it tightly and leading her to an ambulance. The boy, Tord realized, was Tom. A painful yelp was heard from inside the building. Tord turned to stare out of the glass doors at a couple running away from the building. Tom was behind them. On his knees Tom was grasping his leg in pain. Tord went to help him, hoping he could make it. He couldn't. The building dropped more and more bricks and cement, falling through the air. Tord felt an arm on his shoulder, and another one more claw like on his arm. Tord turned to see Matt half-shifted and an officer.
"The buildings collapsing, please come with me." The man in uniform said. Tord never liked police. Tord ran to the door once more,before a stream of cement blocked his path. More and more toppled down, relentless, until one finally hit him. Tord called out in pain to Tom. Tears welled in Tords eyes once more as he yelled for Tom over and over, and a total of three people where pulling him away from the buildings entrance. Tord turned and looked at Paul,Patryk, and Edd, pulling him away.
"Toms still in there!" Tord yelled. Matt looked in horror, and all three of them loosened their grip. Tord ran to the building, but it was too late. The roof of the building collapsed, knocking the three men over. Tord looked at Tom before he fell, and saw his face. No fear, no resentment, no regret. But a loving expression, with knowledge that he had little chance, and refusing to become a monster. Tord landed on his back, ash covering his face and hoodie. Edd fell beside him, and Paul with Matt.
