He stepped onto the balcony, brisk night air sending a brief chill down his spine. The stars shone down perfectly, transporting him worlds away from the rambunctious club. Pulling out a pack and his lighter, he lit a cigarette. It was his other escape, a way to calm himself and boy did it work wonders.
Taking a drag and letting out a puff of smoke, he watched the cloud billow into oblivion. Unlike him it was able to drift off and dissolve into nothingness. For him however that seemed to be but a sweet nightmare. Deep down, he knew it could happen, only if he was completely willing.
His peaceful loneliness was disrupted finally, a girl from the club stumbling out into the shocking silence. She of course chose to situate herself directly next to him, proving to him that invisibility couldn't be obtained. Glancing over at him she flashed a fairly sweet smile.
"Hey there," she said, still a bit loud due to the music that had been blaring indoors, "I'm Natalie. How bout you?"
He barely paid mind to her, giving her a quick look before returning to his date with the stars and his smoke.
"Not a talker?" She looked almost hopeful, blue stained lips moving down to ghost a frown.
He again ignored her, taking a few long drags to fill the blissful silence.
"Nice talking to you too, buddy..." She murmured, looking away to enter her own world.
After what seemed like an eternity he stomped out the nub of a cigarette that was left. With that and only that to do, he walked back into the bustling club. He was almost deafened at the blaring music and screaming people, but it was a pleasurable distraction. Weaving his way through the crowd he exited the building and strode into the street. Adjusting his jacket he was on his way, hoping to get back to his place before first light decided to show it's face.
For once he was gifted his wish. He arrived at his door, opening it just as the sun was beginning to peer over the mountain tops. He stepped in quickly, evading the rays that threatened to capture him. Finally he was safe and alone, giving him the rare chance at even getting a glimpse of joy.
With a muffled groan he crawled into his bed, curling up under the comforter. Fortunate for him he drifted to sleep in a matter of moments, the creature taking him without a struggle.

With a groan, the boy sat upright in his large bed. He wiped the sleep from his eyes, trying to return to reality. Glancing over at his clock, he slipped out of bed and sulked toward his bathroom.
It took him much too long to get ready, still barely awake when he forced himself out the door.
The light hit his skin like thousands of needles. Taking in a sharp breath, he pulled on his beanie and began making his way down the sidewalk. The only business he had outside was getting actual food. Enough so he wouldn't have to venture out for another week.
