the fading lilac clouds chased the horizon, it was a glorious day. both of carl's crystal teal eyes flickered open, the blinding sunlight numbing his sight.
"you're awake." the fair haired boy crouched beside carl. as his smile grew closer and closer to his ears, he beamed down at carl. he immediately squinted, this boy's smile was the brightest thing he's ever seen. "remember me? ron? the guy who took your eye?" the boy went on and on, nervously tucking his golden locks behind his rosy pink ears. ron stretched one of his arms out, and carl took it, holding on tightly. carl brushed his finger tips through his silky hair, cautiously looking around for walkers.
"we don't have walkers here." ron assured carl, squeezing his shoulder. "c'mon carl, let's go."
"where's everyone, where's dad? where's judith?"
"this is a better place carl, they won't be here until... they need to be."
carl lifted his elbow, his bruises were out of sight. he then patted both his eyes, curiously, they were still there.
"i'm perfect again." carl whispers to himself, grinning.
"babe you always were," ron smirk-mumbles-silentgroans. carl had to pretend he didn't hear that. he wasn't sure where they were going, but his forearm was still linked with ron's.
