Lena was never the pretty one.

No, that was her nonidentical twin, Anna. Blessed with a petite curvy figure, and beautiful dark auburn hair. She never had a shortage of boys trailing in and out of the house.

Lena was tall, and not gracefully tall, but awkwardly tall. The kind of tall that often made it look as if she were tripping over her own legs. Her hair was a dark brown color, similar to that of mud. Though her features were soft and almost pretty, her tendency to shy away from others left much to be wanted in the boyfriend department.

Lena was never the smart one.

No, the smart one Anna. With a brain chalked full of knowledge on everything from Calculus to European History, she was years above their grade level.

Lena was average at school. She didn't get A's, but she never failed. Always maintaining a stable 3.0 GPA.

Lena was never the fun one.

No, that was always her twin sister Anna. Always laughing and making the best jokes. Always making easy conversation. Always ready for a party. Always smiling and enjoying life.

Lena was the boring twin. Always leaving parties early and standing aside awkwardly. Never making much conversation. She was only there because Anna wouldn't go without her.

But it all didn't matter. Anna and Lena were inseparable, as any twins should be. They whispered secrets to each other in the night, giggling over Anna's jokes. But Anna never told Lena everything. Most of the time Anna wouldn't tell Lena anything.

Anna was sad. Anna was depressed. Anna couldn't handle life. Not anymore. Anna loved Lena. But loving someone isn't enough to keep a life going. Anna committed suicide, in the dark of the night. Leaving just a bunch of useless things behind.

Lena isn't the pretty one. Lena isn't the smart one. Lena isn't the fun one. Lena isn't a twin, not anymore. No. Lena is just Lena. And how could that be lovely?
