Anna woke up on the first day feeling like crap.
She was so tired from the Dementor the night before, she almost fell asleep in her pudding at the Feast. And she almost fell asleep in her eggs at breakfast.
"Hey, what did you sign up for for classes?" Kane asked.
Her eyes widened. Her mind went blank. Her brain was going into an everlasting spiral of doom and suffering as she realized with horror that she forgot to sign up for classes.
As if on cue, they heard McGonagall's shrieking voice.
"Blackstone! Blackstone! Anna Nikki Elizabeth Blackstone!" Anna winced at her middle name and turned to face the Professor bearing down on her like a hawk.
"Yes?" she squeaked.
"You. Have. Not. Signed. Up. For. CLASSES!!!"
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, there was... things going on, and I—"
"No! No excuses. Now I... I know you're a very exceptional student, so maybe I won't sign you up for History of Magic every period until the end of term. I'll let you sign up now."
"Oh, thank you so much Professor."
McGonagall made a sound between a grunt, growl, sigh, and Anna thought she heard a little bit of meow in there.
She took the piece of paper and signed up for every class except Muggle Studies. She knew everything she needed to know about them.
McGonagall sent flying paper airplanes to all Anna's teachers and handed her the timetable. Once they were finished with breakfast, they made their way into the dungeon to Potions.

Anna was starting to make a habit of falling asleep into things, and she almost did it in Potions, right into her dragon's feces.
They were reviewing stuff from the year before and sorting out their potion ingredients, and the dim lights and warmth was not helping Anna stay awake. Kane tapped her just before she put her face in the poop.
"Thanks," she muttered.
"Okay, everyone have their Dragon feces? Good. Now, that's it for ingredients... Now, who can tell me what, exactly, are the effects of a Shrinking Solution?"
She heard footsteps and turned around to see outside the door, just in time to see a blur of blonde hair disappearing around the corner. It looked a lot like her hair...
Yup, that was enough. Anna was sleeping.

"Anna? Anna?"
She was being shaken, and she didn't like it.
Her fist collided with someone's face, and she heard a familiar "Ow!"
"Oh, hey Kane." she lifted her head to see students leaving the Potions classroom, and Kane rubbing his cheek.
"Class's over," he mumbled.
"'Kay." she picked up her bag and they started walking out the door.
"You know, I think you broke my jaw."
"Stop whining, you big ba—"
"Blackstone! Swan! Come back here," they heard Snape call behind them. Gosh, it was their first day, what did they do this time?
They turned back and walked into the Potions room.
"Yeah?"
They walked closer, all the way to his desk, Snape waiting like he was trying to tell them something private.
