After the announcement was over, each family was escorted back to their huts. On the way home, Oikawa and his whole family was silent. Either they had nothing to say, they were just too afraid to say it, or they already knew the answer to what they wanted to say. Either way...the silence was chilling. Oikawa really didn't want to be the one to have to break it.

Their mother and father had met up with them after the announcement, and they weren't willing to talk about it either, no matter how many looks Oikawa had given them. They needed someone to be confident, someone to be brave...but Oikawa was afraid. He didn't want to be the one to take charge of the family and tell them that everything would be okay. Because it wasn't. It never would be again.

Finally, after what seemed like eternities, they reached the hut. They filed in one after another, parting ways to either head to sleep or just go sit down somewhere.

Oikawa was subconsciously tapping his fingers on the sheath of his dagger, and he went to the corner of the hut, settling down on his pillow in the dark. He wanted to go to sleep, forget about it all. But he knew he couldn't. Right away, bright and early in the morning, there would be guards at the huts. Counting heads, making sure everyone was there. Executing the families who didn't have everyone. And of course, the guards doing the killing would never bat an eye. Just a couple useless Shadows, worthless.

Oikawa rolled over onto his other side, trying to force the thoughts out of his mind. It would be no good thinking about it, for he would never be able to change it.

Oikawa thought back to what the Commander had also said. The Prince was turning of age. Hm. The Prince was only one year older then him. A random thought came into Oikawa's mind; he didn't know anything about the royal family, or anything about politics in general. He didn't even know anyone's name. But, naturally, that's how it was with all Shadows. I guess Shadows shouldn't even deserve the right to learn the names of Royal Flames.

Honestly, Oikawa thought it was pathetic. Yet it made sense. The Flames liked to feel superior over everyone and everything...including their names.

Oikawa squeezed his eyes shut as tightly as he could, trying to somehow force himself to go to sleep. He still couldn't hear his family, they still weren't talking. Maybe they had decided to try and go to sleep as well...that was probable. Oikawa just hoped it wouldn't be this awkward of a mood tomorrow. And if it was, Oikawa decided that he would just have to be the one to take responsibility and talk to everyone.

A few minutes later, after pushing the thought out of his head entirely, Oikawa fell asleep rather restlessly.

Oikawa was awakened the next morning by a shouting outside the hut. He blinked his eyes open exhaustedly, wanting to shove his face in his pillow. But even so, he got up, groggily shuffling over to the cloth door to see who was outside. Oikawa peered out, and nearly screamed when he saw 3 massive guards standing there with bitter looks on their faces.

That's right. Shit. First days of inspections. "U-U-Um, I'm sorry, give me one moment." Oikawa stuttered, but the guards just shoved Oikawa aside and stepped into the hut ungracefully. There were surprised shouts from inside, and Oikawa rushed in after them. His parents were quickly standing up from their slumber, so where the rest of his siblings. The guards just stood there, one of them pulling out a huge notebook.

"Tooru family, 11 members?" One of the massive guards rumbled. Oikawa's father just nodded. "Yes, that is correct." He said, trying to keep a strong voice. "All of you, get into a line." The guard ordered coldly, and Oikawa's family scrambled to get into a line in front of the guards. Oikawa stood at the end, his stomach tingling with nerves.

The guard with the notebook was writing stuff down in it, pacing back and forth very slowly in front of each member of the family. He asked them questions, like their name and age. Once he got down to Oikawa, he stopped. "Oldest, Oikawa, 19?" He asked icily, and Oikawa just nodded nervously. The guard wrote that down, then looked over Oikawa again. He jotted something down again, and Oikawa could have sworn he saw him circle it. "That is all. Inspection is over." The biggest guard stated. They all turned around and exited the hut without another word.

Oikawa, and his whole family, let out a breath. "It's over." His mother whispered, clasping her hands together. Oikawa though, even though they were gone, was still nervous. What extra thing had they written down? What had he circled? Oikawa was broken out of his thoughts when Lilly walked up to him.

"We have to do that every day and night for the rest of our lives?" She asked him in a small, worried voice. Oikawa nodded slowly. "I believe so...why did he have to write everything down?" He added, sighing in confusion. Lilly just shrugged, turning away from him. "Dunno. They are probably planning something." Then she walked away, over to her strawberry plant in the corner of the hut.

Oikawa stared after her while his baby brother toddled around his legs. "Planning something? What in the hell could they be planning?" He whispered under his breath. He had no idea. But all he knew was that if the Royal Family was planning something...chances are, it wasn't going to be good. Nothing ever was.
