The long long wait was over. As in the super duper long wait is over. At exactly 1:45 PM of Philippine time the viral has started.

Viral, I mean, the UAAP season 76 Volleyball tournament. Why a long wait? Ask the fans. I'm not one, becuase I'm  one of the die-hard ones. Confused? Me too. I don't know what to say. I don't how to start but definitely I got something from my heart with love to my favorite team, the Ateneo Lady Eagles. <3

If you ask me, when did I start fangirling about this nationwide-loved collegiate tournament, I may say a year ago, not long enough like others but I just loved to claim I'm one of their biggest fans.

Anyway, this is not about me nor about the hundreds or even thousands of supporters of the ALE. This is about the team everone loved and sadly, everyone hated.

If you are a fan, then there's no way you don't know the fab 5. I mean, Gretchen, Fille, Jem, Dzi, and A? You don't know them? Then you don't have the right to call yourself a fan. For those who don't have any updates yet, the fab 5 already bid farewell alongside coach Roger Gorayeb. Shocked? You shouldn't,  it's not a new story anyway. So don't wonder if there is no Fab 5 in the line up or wearing the jersey anymore, because they were just once a part and now just a sweet history.

Moving on, let me talk about the "new" Ateneo as many termed the team. No Fab 5, just the remaining players together with a bunch of rookies and new coaching staff.

They had their first game a while ago against the tall NU Lady Bulldogs. Many are expecting them to win, but  apparenly they lost. Disapponted? Want to support other team? Don't be. It's just the first game, they still have 13 remaining games before the final four. Still, a long journey to go. A lot of chances to bounceback.

So to the haters, how come you can conclude right away that the team is weak, just because they lost doesn't mean they are weak, may I just remind you it's just the first of the hundreds of the games they will participate. What if, they win, will that let you conlcude that they are a team to beat? That they have a brighter future in bagging a championship? Oh c'mon haters show some equity please. (Anyway, we the fans are not begging all of you to like the team)

If we look on the statistics of the game, it is clear that they have a strong fight in spiking, blocking, service, digging, setting, and reception. If you watched the game, definitely you know that I'm talking how good they are as a team (it just needs adjustments esp. for the rookies). As you see, it went all wrong in there unforced errors which is a very big thing. Anyhow, they can have an excuse.  Once again, they are just a new team, formed in less than a year, compared to other teams, they are really unexperienced. They may have a training outside the country, a couple of tune-up games against professional teams and a head coach from Thailand's junior team but that is not enough. It is not enough for exposures to bigger arenas, especially to the rookies who just got used for a couple of months to Ateneo crowd not to UAAP crowd, which I guess makes a total difference. We may be hearing that the team is really improving a lot, maybe they just choose not to let it out in that game or maybe they are still in the adjusting stage. You know getting familiar with the crowd and everything. Whatever excuse they have, it may not be a good one to many but for the fans who believes in them it is.

On the other hand, many is mesmerized by the talent of the rookies and many more are amazed by the undying ability of the seniors. They just really need time to adjust. A set is not enough to let their self feel comfortable, a game may do so, but a set is way to impossible.

So haters gonna hate, as they say, but to us who belives in their talent and in their ability all I'm gonna do is wait for them to shine the shinest among the stars.

With love from a fan, I'm saying, One Big Fight. Go Lady Eagles, it's just the start, prove them wrong because you will rise again.

(Many may hate the team but let them be. According to a quote, "The best way to revenge is to smile to them and prove them wrong through actions".
