Why Now?

Chapter 1

It's been 5 years since Finn has left. Julian and Sofia are 5 and they have never met Finn. They think he is always at work and he travels all the time for it. Before long I won't be able to tell them that anymore cause they are going to start figuring it out. Jack and Niki are going good stronger and better than ever and I am so happy for them. I haven't dated or been put with anyone since Finn left. I guess a part of me still wants him to come back. Right now the kids are at school while I am at work. I decided to go and with with Niki and her mom at her mom's lawfirm as a secretary. I actually make pretty good money and I was so happy to work their. I'm able to be there for my kids and at the same time I'm able to provide for them. One day I came home from work and Niki, and Jack are coming over for dinner. I was making lasagna. As I was making it the kids came home off the bus and said

"Hi mommy!"

"Hey guys! How was school?"

"It was good!" Said Sofia

"How was your's Julian?"

"It was good! Has daddy come home yet?"

"No buddy he hasn't. I'm sorry" I said my heart breaking in to a million pieces

"Is Aunt Niki and Uncle Jack coming over?" Asked Sofia

"Yeah they're coming over for dinner in about an hour. Do either one of you have homework?"

"No."

"Okay. Well you guys go and play for a little bit and I will let you know when dinner is ready. Okay?" I said

"Okay!" Said Sofia getting off the chair "Come on Julian let's go play."

"Okay I will be there in a minute." He said looking at me

"Is everything okay bud?"

"Mommy how come daddy never calls or comes home?"

"He is just very busy bud. He loves you very much."

"Oh okay." He said getting off the chair and walking towards me "Hey mommy?"

"What honey?"

"I love you so much!" He said giving me a hug

"I love you too!"

He let go ran upstairs and then the doorbell rang. It was Niki and Jack. They were here about half an hour early which is okay but the kids came running down and yelled

"Aunt Niki!!!!!! Uncle Jack!!!!!"

They gave them hugs and said

"Hey guys!"

"Hey can you guys run upstairs again and stay up there till I tell you guys to come down cause I have to talk to Aunt Niki and Uncle Jack about big people things."

"Yeah!"

"I love you both!"

"Well love you too mommy!" Said Sofia

I waited time I heard the door shut and turned to them and said

"Have you heard from Finn?"

"Yeah. I tell him how Julian looks just like him and how Sofia has his personality and how they ask about him all the time."

"Yeah Julian asked me not even 5 minutes before you got here why Finn is always at 'work' and why he never calls."

"What did you tell him?"

"He's just very busy...what was I going to tell him? Oh I'm sorry your dad left you before you were born it has nothing to do with you or anyone besides his own selfish issues. Yeah cause that would've went over well!"
