After the mission, the crew had all agreed that they would remain in the asteroid field for a couple of days to try to process everything that had happened. After all, the Empire had been all but defeated in a sector wide radius so they were in no danger and there were some big decisions that needed making by certain members of the crew, specifically Sabine and Ezra. It was obvious that they cared for each other greatly and both wanted to continue fighting the Empire but neither of them could deal with the thought of becoming like Hera, stricken with grief over losing her soul mate.

The pair sat side by side on Sabine's bunk, discussing possible courses of action.  "Are we really gonna do this?" Ezra asked with uncertainty.  "Do you want to?" Sabine replied, crossing her fingers behind her back.  "More than anything but...can we?" Ezra pondered.   "Let's have a word with Hera about it, she'll be able to give us advice" Sabine answered, pulling him up quickly.  "Always on the move" Ezra sighed as she guided him out of the room towards Hera's cabin.

Hera sat solemnly on her bed, staring up at the mural of Kanan plastered on her wall.  It was such a recent addition to her room yet things had seemed so different then, so much happier.  Kanan had always been the cocky cowboy Jedi who had taught her to relax and now he was gone she felt like part of her was missing.  As she silently considered different outcomes that could have happened with the mission, Ezra and Sabine suddenly burst through the door with faint smiles on their faces.  "We're really sorry to intrude Hera but we have something we really need to ask you".

The remaining crew all gathered in the meeting room as Hera strode up before the others.  This was the first time they'd all been together since...well since there had still been a Spectre 1.  "I have a couple of things to say and there's no easy way to say them so let's just get on with this.  Recently...we lost Kanan.  He will not be forgotten, to some he represented a father figure and to others...a truly close friend, maybe more.  And he will be remembered such" she began provoking murmurs of agreement from her crew.  "Next I have some entirely different information to part, it cannot have escaped people's attention that Ezra and Sabine have become much closer recently.  With this in mind, they have decided to...quit the rebellion, retire if you will.  I have gifted them the Phantom for this new adventure and would like to wish you luck.  We may be starting to go our separate ways now but remember this, we are a family and no matter how far apart life drags us we will always come back for one another, always..." She concluded, drifting off as memories of happier times began to flood into her head.

One day later:
Having revealed their plans to the rest of the crew, Ezra and Sabine decided that they'd like to start their new lives as soon as possible and had already packed their gear into the Phantom.  They didn't want to drag out long goodbyes, like Hera had said they were family and would no doubt see each other again.  As the pair carried their last packs towards the ship, smiling at one another, they reached the ladder to find the rest of the crew stood waiting patiently for them.  Hera was the first to speak with "now...you've remembered to pack everything haven't you?"  They nodded with a sad smile as tears began to well in her eyes.  "Take care of one another, don't take any...risks" she chocked as she began crying.  "Exactly how you taught us" Ezra said with a hint of sarcasm making everyone chuckle.  The trio hugged tightly as they all welled up.  "We'll meet again, don't worry" Sabine said.  Chopper bleeped sadly, shocking Ezra playfully for what he thought may be the last time in a very long while.  He dare not do the same thing to a skilled Mandalorian warrior so he decided instead to simply say goodbye to Sabine.  "See ya little guy" she replied as she patted his dome.  "See you around kid" Zeb said gruffly while ruffling Ezra's hair.  "Will you ever stop calling me kid?" Ezra asked jokingly.  "You can hope" Zeb replied with a chuckle as he embraced Sabine.  The pair retrieved their packs and slowly climbed up the ladder whilst waving.  The crew looked on as the Phantom detached from the Ghost for the last time in a long time and flew away becoming a tiny speck in the distance.  The mission was over, yet a brand new adventure had begun for Sabine and Ezra.
