I kept staring at our hands. I couldn't move. Butterflies went all trough my stomach. What was happening to me?

"Let me show you" he said "What's your combination?" I didnt answer. I couldn't answer. He sighed and started moving my hand with his to the way the lock went.

He let go and pulled the lock and it opened. "Wha..." I finally said snapping back into real life. He laughed.

"Guess a traffic cone can do more then just trip people" he said in amusement. "But... You didnt.. You didnt even know my code.." I said turning towards him, looking dumbfounded.

"Who ever made these locks are idiots. Since my locker is right next to yours, it basically has the same code except for the last number. Its one less then mine. So thats how I figured it out"

He leaned his back against his locker "Neat huh?"

"Yeah..." I said not completely listening. I shoved my book bag into it and slammed the door shut. But instead of walking away, I just stood there. Staring at my locker "Something.. Wrong?" He asked

I turned to look at him his eyes went from curious to worried. "Hey you don't look so good.. Are you okay?" He asked. I shook my head trying to get my thoughts in order.

"No no no im good. I got to go... You know home so uh. Bye" I said and rushed passed him. But of course, that didnt stop him. He grabbed my arm and and I froze.

"No. Really. You look sick. I'll walk you home- I mean if you would like me to" i turned and looked at him. I felt my cheeks getting hotter. "Why are you being nice to me?" I finally choked up. "I'm just a chicken with its head cut off to you." He looked away. "You are" he said "But.. Uhm I like to eat chicken"

That was when i lost it. I jerked away from him, my face redder then a tomato "OH MY GOD THAT SOUNDS SO DISGUSTING!!" I yelled then broke out laughing.

His face turned red too "NO NO THATS NOT WHAT I MENT!" I MENT-" i cover his mouth. I felt like i was going to pass out from laughing. After I finally caught my breath I spoke up.

"Whatever your about to say will be ten times worse then what you already said" I said smiling. "just shut up" he rolled his eyes at me and took my hands off his mouth.

"Just go home, Madge" he said and started fiddling with his locker combination. "You cant tell me what to do. Your not my mo- uhm.. dad"

He looked at me with a straight face. "You lost your mom?" He asked. I stayed quiet. It was forever since I last thought of my mom. She died in a car accident when Sam was 5 and its been hard for everyone ever since. I looked at my locker. "I dont want to talk about it.." I whispered.

He didn't say anything. I guess he must've felt the awkwardness too. I turned around to leave. "I did too.." I froze. Did he actually say that? I turned around to look at him, but he was facing his locker.

"What..?" I finally choked up. "Car accident" his voiced cracked. He sounded like he was about to cry. "Me too.." I said softly. He looked at me his eyes analyzing my face. His eyes were red but he wasn't fully crying.

We stayed like that for what seemed like forever. A tear rolled down his face and my heart sunk. "So its just you and your dad huh?" I finally said. "No" he said quickly looking away. "Its just me" then he rushed off.
