harry was fine. honestly, he was. that's at least what he was telling himself. he knew as soon as he got outside he shouldn't have done that.

he stood outside of their front door, hand on the doorknob, yet he never turned it.

he let his hand drop from it, along with a tear.

"i'm not a bad person, right, ni?" louis asked, looking up at his best friend.

"no, harry just needs time to think. i know he didn't handle it the right way, but i would be mad too if i was a backup."

"harry thinks he's a backup?" his voice cracked, staring straight ahead at nothing, but all the was going through his mind was harry. "how did he even know i was back together with ian? i didn't tell him." he shook his head, depending on niall to answer all if his questions.

"don't know, babe." niall comforts him, rubbing his back gently.

harry: i fucked up, guys.

harry: i messed the fuck up with louis

liam: what did u do this time

harry: i yelled at him...

zayn: and..?

harry: i might have kissed his friend in front of him..

liam: dude wtf

zayn: lmao bye harry

harry: i'm trying to be serious shutup

zayn: yeah yeah, please, tell us what were supposed to do to help.

harry: i don't know, fucking give me advice maybe???

zayn: lmao no advice i can give you for that mistake

liam: be nice babe

harry: we can talk about you guys later but right now i can't, all i care about is louis

zayn: okay, so i know. TELL HIM YOU LIKE HIM.

harry stood outside, taking a deep breath as he held his hand up to knock. just as he did, the door opened and harry fell inside, his body landing on top of the other's.

"oops." harry mumbled, quickly getting off of louis and as soon as louis realized who it was, he scoffed.

"bye." he muttered, pushing past harry and shutting the door behind him. his cheeks had a pink tint to them, and he was dressed in dark grey joggers and a simple lighter grey shirt.

"I'm sorry." and those two words make louis immediately stop.

"you're sorry? you're kidding me, right?" louis turns around, and wow, harry is closer than he thought.

"i didn't mean to yell at you, and i sure as hell didn't mean to kiss niall- i just felt like i needed to be even with you."

"even with me?"

"you kissed ian right in front of me, don't act dumb." harry mentions, quietly though, as if he didn't want to remember it.

"i'm not acting." louis pouted and harry can't help but laugh, muttering something under his breath.

"i'm sorry, h." louis says after a moment of quietness, more calmed down than a few moments ago.

"i am too, i like you, lou. i really do. i just don't know what the fuck you've been doing lately. you say you like me, but then the next thing i see is you getting back together with him."

"i like you too.." louis' expression changes, softening as he looks up at harry. it's quiet for a while as they both stare at each other. they don't consider it uncomfortable, while others might.

"i need to be with ian, right? that's how it's all supposed to go. i've known him for so long-"

"this is exactly what i'm talking about. you can't say you like me then say you have to be with him. that's the last thing you need right now. choose who you want  now, or I'm leaving."

"harry-" louis starts, feeling tears brimming his eyes.

"i'll talk to you tomorrow." harry says quietly, not looking louis in his face. he leans over to kiss louis' cheek before walking down the driveway and to his car.

louis stood there, only beginning to cry when harry left. he didn't care about the fact that he was outside. he didn't even reject the comfort he got when arms wrapped around him in a hug.
