So PLEASE read her book, The Mixed up Three <3
"Summer after high school, when we first met. We'd make out in your-" I sang, but as soon as I heard someone coming up the stairs, I stopped singing and hopped casually on my bed. My seventeen year old brother Mike entered the room.
"Oh, you're awake." he said simply when he opened the door.
"Yes, I'm awake." I mocked him simply.
"As much as you hate it, you have to go to school today," he reminded me with a smirk.
"But I don't want to!" I groaned, flopping back on my pillow.
"Yeah, well you have to so get ready. I know Mom's depressed and Dad left... but we have to move on. Now come on or you'll be late. I'm getting a ride from Shane." Mike told me before exiting the room. Once he was gone, I hopped out of bed and started towards my closet, throwing on a crop top and dark skinny jeans. I brushed my blonde hair in waves and applied slight makeup. Once I was satisfied with my look, I gathered my things and started walking to school.
School is my least favourite thing in the whole world because, well, it's simple: I have no friends. I'm all alone, I guess you could say. I'm a B average student who is liked by the teachers and everything, so my life isn't all bad.
Bullying isn't the issue either. Nobody bullies me or teases me, I'm just unnoticed. Ironically, the popular girl, Cherry, short for Cheryl, knows just who I am. So does her boyfriend Cody, but Cherry doesn't allow Cody to see me - at all. So we barely know each other.
The view of the school came to my line of vision and I scanned the area for Cherry. Once I didn't see her, I hurried into the school, found my locker, and stuffed everything in it. I love to come early to school because that way I have time to head to the music room and sing my heart out with no one hearing me, because no one uses the music room until after lunch.
Instead, I gathered my books and headed into the classroom near me. The bad thing is that Cherry is in this class so I'll be stuck with her because she's my lab partner. Yay.
"Take your seats everyone!" our science teacher, Mrs Harrow, ordered as soon as I entered the classroom. I went straight to the back of the class and sat next to Cherry.
"Ugh, doesn't it just suck that I'm stuck with you?" she spat at me, flipping her dark brown waves.
"Ugh, doesn't it just suck that I'm stuck with you?" I mocked her using the same stuck-up nasally voice she uses daily.
"Why do you have to be so annoying?" she hissed, crossing her arms and staring straight forward. As soon as the teacher began talking, I partially listened. My ears perked up as soon as she mentioned that we'd be dissecting a frog. No, I don't want to dissect a frog. But I do want to see the disgusted expression on Cherry's face when he have to!
"What does dissect mean?" Cherry asked dumbly to me in a whisper.
"You don't know what it means? Oh, you're going to love it!" I replied, faking enthusiasm.
"Really?" she asked excitedly. "Well, what is it?"
"It's when you take a living creature, cut it open, and examine it's insides!"
I couldn't have laughed more when Cherry's face twisted up, her eyes squinted, her lips puckered up tightly and her hands shook pathetically by her side. She let out an 'eww' squeal and made everyone stop and stare at her.
