The High Priestess of Shadows

"Lillian Star, do you swear to guard the Coven with your life until the day you die?"

"I do," Lilly said from her place on the ground.

"Do you swear to use your powers only for good and not for your own personal gain?"

"I do," she said

"Will you be loyal to the Coven and serve its members for as long as you live?"

"I will,"

"Then rise High Priestess Lillian." Her mistress stepped back as Lilly rose from her kneeling position while her Coven cheered. She was a witch, hunted by the Knights and hated by most humans but she was happy. Happy to rule her Coven until she passed on the duty to her future apprentice. Happy to protect everyone from the Knights even if it meant sacrificing herself.

"Well, High Priestess, how does it feel to be in charge?" Mark asked hugging her.

"It's great," she replied smiling.

"Well we're all happy for you," his boyfriend Ross said pulling her in for a hug.

"Now when I tell you to shut up you actually have to," Lilly said greeting the rest of her friends. Jace, Sabrina, Vivian, Elijah, Isabelle, Ari, Jake and Gabe.

"No way. Someone has to disobey you so all the power doesn't go to your head," Ari said.

"You just don't want to follow orders," Vivian said. "You didn't follow orders before so I guess we can't expect a miracle now." They all laughed, it was true that none of them really followed the rules before and it constantly got them into trouble.

"This is the biggest Circle I've ever seen," Gabe said.

"And it's loud too," Vivian put her fingers in her ears and yelled over the noise.

A knock sounded on the door and everyone in theCouncil room froze. No one but the witches knew where this building was, its location was one of their most closely guarded secrets. "Open up," a voice called.

"The Knights!" my mistress, Gwen, hissed.

"I said open up before we break down the door." There was shuffling outside and then a bang against the door. It buckled but didn't give completely.

"Everyone prepare to fight," Maylisse , Head Guard, whisper shouted just as the door caved in and men in armor flooded into the large room.
