"CRAP." I wake up with the silence of my bedroom blaring in my ears. It's 8:49 and school started at 8:00.
I get up and step into my hello kitty slippers. I go down stairs and it's entirely vacant expect for Dawson. Who happens to be my best friend.
"I was gonna say morning gorgeous, but then I'd be lying." Dawson says with a smirk. He gets a rush out of picking on me.
"Yeah, and I was gonna say nothing and hope you'd leave." I tease. "for some reason you're always in my living room."
He does his half grin that I've known for years. "You leave your key at my place, I make copies. Anyways, thanks to you we are late to school." I try to respond but then he cuts me off with a "shut up and get dressed."
By the time I'm ready it's 11:12 and we decide against education for the day. We head down to the shack, which is the fort we made in 6th grade. It's concealed by a canopy of trees. We sit down and lean against some trees as he bites down into an apple he stole from my kitchen.
"3 days Alice. You nervous?"
I look down at my arms that's resting on my leg. My timer that's embedded in my skin. It's always ticking. It tells me the exact moment I meet my sole mate.
"You want the truth?" He nods, "I'm not scared. What's meant to happen will happen, and the timers are always right."
"Have you ever thought, you know, that the timer could be wrong?" Dawson asks me, paranoidly.
"We'll it's not. So why even think it. Why would I be special and it doesn't work? He will be perfect."
He sighs and give me the cold sholder. With us being friends for so long, the cold shoulder is just for 60 seconds. I look at my clock, it's 11:46. This is going to be a long day.

At around 3:24 we start heading home. School gets let out 3:30 so we want to mix into the rush so no rumors start.
Last year when Dawson was a senior and I was junior everyone thought we kissed. Someone then told their parents who of course didn't realize it was a rumor, called to local police.
Then since kissing a non sole mate is illegal they confined Dawson guilty. He went away for three weeks to jail. Though we never actually kissed, he still got in trouble. It's okay though because they had to be sure of no disobedience.
