Chapter 1 - No, I get Charmander!

Leaf's POV
I can't believe I can get my own Pokemon TODAY! I launched myself out of my bed and got dressed faster than I ever had done before. I ran down to the kitchen, where breakfast had just been served. Most of our food is grown at home, so we're actually very healthy. Strawberries are as good as chocolate anyway, so I don't really care about the taste. I gobbled it up in a few bites and quickly said goodbye to my mum as I flew out the door and across to Red's house. I knocked a few times and Red opened the door almost immediately. Red always spoke very quietly, so quiet that you could barely hear him. To this day, I still never know why he's like that.
     "Red! Aren't you so happy that we're getting our first Pokemon today?"
Red made the biggest grin he could before answering "Well...yeah, let's go to the lab right now! I'll race you there." And as soon as he started running I ran with him as fast as my legs would let me and I eventually beat him to the lab. Of course Blue was already there before us. "Hey! Let's go into the lab!" He said before leading us into the building. I have never seen a place so clean before, as all the walls were a solid white like the teeth you see in toothpaste advertisements. I could see Professor Oak standing by a table with three Pokeballs. All of the Pokemon in there will be ours! "Welcome! There are Pokemon inside here, as you can see," explained Professor as a white energy emerged from the Pokeball. A cute grassy  Pokemon burst out and greeted me with its vines to give me some kind of handshake. Two more Pokemon were released from the capsule, which were a tiny blue turtle and an orange lizard with fire burning on its tail. "The grass one is Bulbasaur, the water one  is Squirtle and the fire one is Charmander."
     "I'm getting Charmander!" Red and Blue both said at the same time.
     "No you won't!"
     "Yeah I will!"
I face palmed as I shouted loud enough so they could hear me over their arguing, "Hey, by the way, whoever chooses Squirtle will have an advantage over the one with Charmander!"
     "I'll have Squirtle then!" Blue replied. He's so easy to convince. I could see Red do a mini fist pump because he really wanted a Charmander. It all works out anyway because I wanted Bulbasaur. The Pokemon leaped into our arms as we cuddled them and became friends. "Well I'm off now! smell ya later!" Then off Blue went with his Squirtle in his hands, leaving just me and Red in the middle of Pallet Town.
      "Uhhhhhh... Leaf?" Red began, looking a little nervous.
      "What is it?"
      "Will you come with me through Kanto? it'll only be better if we work together."
      "Yes!" I yelled as I jumped on him, bringing him into a hug. After realising what I just did, I backed away a little before saying, "Sorry, I'm just like that sometimes..."
      "I know, I know. Well let's go then!" He said as he took my hand and almost dragged me along with him. It's easy to tell he gets a part of his personality from Blue. "Sorry, I'm just like that sometimes..."
