Max and Gidget: The First Date (Editing)

Chapter 4

Max's POV

When we arrived, Mole and I helped Snowball pop his head out the manhole to check if we were clear to jump out.

"Guys it's clear. Come on out." Snowball shouted.

Mole came out and said "Ok you two head around the side, the air vent will be around there. I will looking for the power supply. Oh and if you can try releasing as many trapped animals. Sent them to the sewers. Good luck to both of you."

As we walked away Snowball shouted "see you on the other side!"

When we reached the vent, Snowball grabbed the screwdriver that I was carrying and began to remove the vents cover. After he removed the last screw I told him "We should probably put the armor on just in case."

"Yah that sounds good"

"Who knows what alarms we could trigger causing us to get caught"

We began to put the armor on, Snowball helped me put the steel plates and helmet on. I kept the visor down just in case they had sharp shooters. After I saw Snowball in his armor, I laughed because he was wearing the smallest chest plate and his helmet was a small bucket with only two eye holes. he gave me a smirk, well what I assumed was a smirk at least I couldn't really tell. While we were inside the vent, I saw my reflection on the vent's walls. I looked like a metal box with legs. The armor made me feel like an AT-AT but with a bright yellow helmet. The only parts that I had exposed was my tail, underside and paws, everything else was coved.

"I'm surprised these things are pretty light and I still get lots of free movement." I told snowball

"Well yah we aren't going against actual guns, plus  don't think this is actual metal."

"Wait hold that thought I hear something"

"How can you even here with that helmet on anyways?"

"It's probably just an instinct. Come on let's go."

We sped up towards the noise. I was able to see the light at the end of the vents and the noise, now sounding like barks and howls, was getting louder. We reached the end, we saw two guards trying to get the dogs to be quiet. We waited until they gave up so  our mission could begin. Before they left, I saw the cameras in the room face down meaning that we were clear to jump out. Once we were out all the dogs stared at us in cunfusion. I looked around every cell to find Gidget but I was unable to find her.

"Come on Tinydog let's speeding thing up before those cameras come back online !"

"OK ok fine."

"Let's look for something that will release all those caged dogs"

I looked around the room and sow some sort of control panel on a wall.

"Hey Snowball let's try that over there"

"Uh ok but I'm going to stand on your back because I can't reach that high up"

I helped him up. It took a couple seconds before he started to talk again.

"Tinydog we have a problem I don't understand any of these letters."

"Ugh well try pushing all the buttons."

"Ok that sound like a good idea"

I heard the tapping of buttons then some cells opening. When I saw the last cell open up the alarms began to sound. All the dogs began to get get out and run around in a panic.

Snowball stood up on a table and began to shout." All you dogs better listen up if you want to escape! Anyone who can fit through that vent is free to escape into the sewers. For the bigger dogs, you guys will get caught  but you can at least help hold pack the humans. We will come back for you."

All the dogs who fit through the vet escaped while the bigger dogs stayed and helped on holding the door back. As this all happened I walked past all the empty cells hoping that in one of them I could find Gidget. I walked past most cells before I saw the little white pomeranian sitting in a corner crying.  I walked towards her and gave her a nudge she looked at me with tears in her eyes. I lifted my visor and saw her face light up with joy as she dropped me to the floor and began licking my face.

Gidget's POV

I was filled with so much joy seeing Max again. I did get off him eventually.

"Max please don't ever leave me again" I said wiping my tears away.

"I will never leave you."

When he said this is couldn't stop myself from blushing. Max began to pull something out from under the metal plates he whore.

"I noticed that you dropped this back at the factory" He said with my pink bow in his paws.

I couldn't hold myself back and dropping him and licking his face again

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I kept repeating after I got off him and began adjusting my bow properly.

"The reunion is touching and all but we have to get outta here" said a little tin can with eyes.

"Oh Snowball I was just about to..."

"Yeah Yeah Yeah I know just hurry up those dogs can't hold on much longer"

Max ran out of the cell and came back in seconds but this time carrying another biker helmet and more metal plates

"What's this for?" I asked

"No time to explain just put it on." Replied Snowball.

I was able to to put the plates on easily mostly because Max was able to help me out. Once the armor was on, I was able to hear the slams on the door grow louder and louder. Until there was a huge slam and the sound of people yelling.

"Max I'm scared. What's happening?" I said shivering next to Max.

"It's going to be ok, just stay close to me"

I got closer to him. We looked out we saw some dogs running from the people and some were getting shot with darts.

"Get ready we're gonna make a run for it!" yelled Snowball as he was getting on top of Max's back.

"Go go go!" Maxed yelled.

We both ran with the crowd of dogs. I was still confused on where we were going but I trusted Max's plan. I felt as if someone was tapping on my armor. I looked back and saw the darts were bouncing of the armor. It felt like chaos, dogs falling because they've been shoot and dogs still trying to fight back. I noticed that Max stopped running as soon. As we reached a wall, I noticed that Max stopped running.

"Max why did we stop?" I asked breathing heavily

"This is our escape route." Snowball answered as he got into an air vent. .

"Just follow Snowball. I'll be right behind you." Max said right after.

As we went through the vent, I kept looking back to make sure Max was actually following me. Once we reached outside I followed Snowball into the sewers. I didn't want to return to the sewers, it leaves my fur all smelly. I still went in because Snowball pretty much pulled me into the sewers. As I ran through the sewers, I felt safe being with Max.
