*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP* "really, all ready" I mumble as I get out of bed.
I look towards the mirror, "wow" she really did a number on me. I touch my eye, its swollen. I run to get my wallet. There's still forty dollars in it. Yes gas money. I set my wallet back into my purse and head for the bathroom. Its a Saturday, I should be asleep. All though Kaylee wanted to hangout. I hop into the shower, It's cold, like always. I get out and I try to find the hair dryer. Shit. well I guess a ponytail will do. I slip on some grey skinny jeans, a white tank top and a black leather jacket that stops mid stomach. I go to slip on my knee high boots when my phone rings.
"hello" I answer.
"Skarlette, where are you?" Kaylee asks.
"I'll be there in thirty!" I reply grabbing my purse and boots and running out the door. "Are you fucking kidding me" I say out loud. It snowed and now my feet are all wet. I hop into my truck and start the long drive into town. I cake foundation onto my face trying to hide the cut close to my eye, I swerve. Its very icy out today. I put my dark brown eye shadow on. I realize that it is going to be quite difficult to put eye liner and mascara on so I pull over. I finish up. Pull back onto the road. It starts to snow. great just great. I see the town up ahead and relax a bit. Soon I'll be in Starbucks with my best friend. I pull into the parking lot. She runs out of the shop.
"Lottie!" Kaylee screams. Ugh how am I friends with her? I love her so I guess I can put a smile on my face
"Kay!!" I yell back. She laughs and we walk back into the shop. we sit down and wait for our waiter.
"Hey, I'm Austin and I'll be your- you've got to be kidding me, Scar?" I look up at the waiter to see familiar face, a face I see on the streets. a face that just recognized mine, not as the shy quiet girl in school, the face he sees fighting on the streets for gas money.
"Kaylee excuse me I need to talk to Austin" I stand up grab his arm and pull him into I back room. "How do you know that name?" I ask with my hand grasping his shirt.
"I saw you on the streets last night" he touched my eye "wow are you okay? she really did a number on you"
"you where there I beat the shit out of her, and ill do the same to you if you don't keep this quiet."
"your cute, what school you go to scar?"
"Do not call me by that name unless I'm on the street about to punch you. I go to Sidney high school just up the street."
"Oh no shit? Me too, what grade?"
"Tenth" I reply truly getting bored by the conversation
"Oh ,I'm in 11th, that explains why I never see you, But you could let go of my shirt darlin' your secret is safe with me" he winked as I looked up my eyes locked with his ice blue eyes. I release his shit. He grabs my hand. squeezes it. "you know darling, I bet your friend thinks were hooking up back here." I look away and walk back to the table.
"What was that about, and Scar? what kind of nickname is that?"
"oh umm"
Austin shoots up right behind me "family friends"
"oh, I've never met Skarlette's family.." I shoot Austin a look.
"well her parents died in a car crash a few years back" I look down. how did he know that.
"I'll take a mocha latte, whipped cream on the bottom, Carmel on the top." say breaking the silence. Austin jumps and starts my order down. his black hair fell right in front of his eyes. he looks up, and I'm still staring.
"like what you see there Lottie?" Kaylee kicks my leg I look away. he smiles, "and what would you like my dear" he winks at Kaylee, you can see her tanned face.
"just a hot chocolate, nothing fancy"
he smiles "all right coming right up" he walks away with the order in his hand.
"he's sooo cute" Kaylee says clearly staring at him.
I snap my fingers, "earth to Kaylee," I say getting pissed. "he's bad news, trust me"
"he seems nice enough"
"speak of the devil" I mutter under my breath.
"all right here's your hot chocolate, nothing special, and here's your mocha latte whip cream on the bottom, Carmel on the top." he hands us our drinks with a smile on his face. his smiles sooo perfect totally compliments his eyes. Kaylee kicks me and I snap out of it totally spilling water on him.
"oh my god, I'm so sorry, let me go get you a napkin!!" I run over and grab a napkin and run back and start cleaning up the mess on his shirt.
"I've got it." he says with a smile and walks away.
"ill be right back" I say to Kaylee. I run over to him in the back room.
"listen, I didn't mean to do that." he looks down at me
"you know, those eyes look so much prettier if your hair wasn't always in them." he pushes the hair out of my eyes. "see look pretty green eyes, hidden by black hair." he says with a smile
"how did you know about my parents?" I ask pushing my hair back into my face.
"I do my research, here's my number" he walked away. I start back walking to Kaylee and Austin whispers in my ear, "you in my lunch period by the way, sit by me" and he disappeared.
"Kaylee lets take this to go."
