A middle aged man suspected for mass murder has escaped police custody and is now on the run. Local civilians living near the downtown area are to be on high alert and are expected to report any suspicious characters. The suspect is wearing a long coat and was still holding a long knife when they fled the scene of the crime.

Letting out a sigh I turned off the tv. Another day. Another murderer. Maybe I should've gone over to my sister's house? Nah she probably would have called me a scaredy cat.
After all what are the chances of this guy coming over to my house to murder me. Ha so unlikely.

I jerked my head in the direction of the noise, my eyes cautious. Part of me knew there was no way that stupid murderer was there and it was probably just a pipe falling over. And yet, why does the other part of me want to run?

Walking to the window I drew the curtains back.
My heart sank.
Outside my window was the man.
The news mentioned long knife.
He carried a knife two times the size of a machete. It's surface was rusted with faint traces of red.
The news said a long coat.
He wore a coat that seemed to stick to him.
The light passed over him. In that split second I saw it.
The reason why it stuck to him was because the coat was wet. With blood.I screamed. A single desperate cry for the help that would never come.
He started walking closer.
Closer.
Closer.
Closer.
Closer.
And closer.I could do nothing but watch the man walk closer. To me. Each step was a step closer to my demise. I could do nothing.
That's when i noticed it.
Maybe if I had noticed it before I could have survived. No even if I did I was going to end up a corpse anyways.
Outside on the snow where the man's footprint should have been visible...was nothing.
