Aliens, if you ask 10 people if they exist 50% will say no and 50% will say yes.
I'm gonna clear this up. aliens do exist, mathematically it has to be true by the mere statement of our very existence . The universe is potentially infinite, and so just by the TINY yet finite chance we exist that makes it undeniable that aliens exist, its like saying get the smallest number you know that isn't negative or zero and times it by the biggest number you know. you end up with a decently large number, however. And this is were it comes out of the respectable realms of maths and into the debatable realms of philosophy. if aliens exist and are intelligent and have awesome stuff and are really nice, why haven't we run into the/observed them? and this brings me back to the whole "universe is infinite" thing.
if the universe is infinite and the chance of aliens existing is pretty darn good, but FINITE then whatever aliens exist they are extremely likely to be no where near us, so it is debatable weather aliens exist from our Perspective, most argue that the answer is no, surely if they were close enough IE 50 light years out (that's really not that much to be honest) then they would have tried to make contact by now, for this would be obeying one of the most basic principals of "intelligence". Curiosity . however, like with most fields of science and philosophy some genius came along and face palmed the rest of us for us. in this case it was Enrico Fermi. creator of the Fermi paradox. in the Fermi paradox Enrico Fermi tells us that even if Aliens do exist this does not necessarily mean that they will come and greet us at first glance in fact he tells us that one of a few things could happen.
1. they come and greet us and essentially tell us were awesome but we should probably stop having wars with our selves and slowly annihilating the planet.
2. they observe us and deduce a good time to come say hi.
3. they see us as a threat and annihilate us for existing.
4. we find and say hi to them.
5. they come and annihilate are planet for its resources like we do to rainforests and instead of saying "awww look at the little birds in there nests, oh well" they would say something like "awww look at the little ape like lifeforms and their cute little concrete structures, oh well"
6. they don't exist and we keep looking for eternity.
a lot of these things seem pretty grim but to be honest we should be more focused on fixing our world before they find us so we can deal with that situation.
honestly I really should do stuff like this more- tell me if I should
