...Louis...

-Eleven-

"Louis!"  My mum yelled walking into my room.

"Yes, mum?" I asked rolling off my stomach and sitting up.

"Why would you leave Izzy outside alone? You know how dangerous that is?" My mum questioned placing a hand on her hip. "Her mother found her at the park down the street. She got lost coming home from the creek."

"She should have been able to find her way home, it isn't that far from the creek." I mumbled.

"Louis, she's nine, all she knows is that she was going somewhere with you. She was excited so she didn't pay attention on how you got there." My mum sat on my bed with me placing her hand on my shoulder. "Izzy could have gotten kidnapped. Do you understand how bad that could have been?"

"No..." I let my body drop back onto the bed.

"Louis, honey, all I'm saying is that you shouldn't leave Izzy alone when you go out with her."  Mum commented rubbing my shoulder. "I think you should call Mrs. Montgomery and promise her it won't happen again."

"Okay," I sighed getting out of my bed to go get the phone.

I dialed the Montgomery's number and waited for someone to pick up. After the third ring I heard someone pick up the phone.

"Hello?" Izzy's mum picked up.

"Hi, Mrs. Montgomery." I replied timidly.

"Oh hello, Louis." She greeted sweetly.

"I'm calling to apologize about leaving Izzy at the creek. I didn't know she wasn't paying attention on our way there, and I should have paid more attention to her." I admitted. "I promise from now on to protect Izzy and always make sure she gets home safely." I promised.

"That's very sweet of you Louis." I could tell Izzy's mum was smiling through the phone. "And I accept your apology for leaving Izzy. I understand at that age, you don't understand the dangers."

"Yeah..." I looked at the floor in dismal.

"Louis," she started, "would you like to speak to Iz?"

"Sure."

I heard the phone being pasted, then a little voice speak up.

"Louis?" I heard Izzy ask.

"Yes, Izzy?" I questioned.

"Why did you leave me at the creek? I didn't know where I was going and I got really scared. Why did you do it Louis?" I could tell she was on the verge of crying.

"I don't know Iz, I just wanted to go home. I didn't think about you being left there." I answered truthfully. "I promise I won't do it again, I promise to always get you home safely."

-Fifteen-

"I can't believe you're going to college Lou!" Izzy shouted in amazement. "I mean it's crazy, it seems like just yesterday that you were taking my barbies away from me." She smiled at the memory.

"I never did that." I tried to defend myself.

"You did too, you can ask our mums, you know it's true." She stated, "you were a brat."

"Excuse me, you're still a brat." I shot back smugly.

"Take that back! I am not a brat!" Izzy let her mouth drop in shock standing from the ground to make herself bigger than me.

"You are too, have you seen the way you act?" I said matter of factly. "Defiantly a brat."

"Well you're an ass!" Izzy shouted pushing me over then sticking her tongue out.

"See, a brat." I stated laughing.

"Untrue," Izzy replied before marching away.

I gazed after her in shock, she's never walked away from me before, I was always the one to walk away from her. Whenever I would walk away it was because she would make me angry or because I wanted to make her angry. I would always get over it quickly and make my way back to her because I made a promise when I was twelve to look after her. I wasn't planning on breaking that promise anytime soon.

"Oh c'mon Izzy! I was kidding!" I shouted after her, hastily I made my way after her. When I reached her I swiftly grabbed her arm. "Iz, I was kidding, I'm sorry."

She took the chance to shove her face into the crook of my neck and mumbling something incoherent before I felt tears hit my bare shoulder.

"Iz, why are you crying?" I asked pulling her away to arm's length.

"I'm just going to miss you. I won't see you at school anymore, for two years. You're going to think everyone is better than me, therefore you'll forget about me." She admitted pulling me back against her.

"Oh Izzy, I'll never forget about you. You're too amazing to forget." I comforted her. "Also you'll still see me after school, we'll still hang out. I admit maybe not as much, but we will."

"Promise?" She sniffled.

"Promise."

-Sixteen-

"Hey Lou?" My friend Stan asked getting my attention.

"Yeah?" I replied still looking at my computer screen.

"Who is that at your door?" He pointed towards the door.

I looked away from my computer to see Izzy standing at the door with tears rolling down her cheeks. I quickly pushed my chair back at strode towards the door. I swung the door open and immediately pulled Izzy into my arms.

"He said I wasn't pretty enough for him, he said I was too ugly." Izzy started sobbing. "I really like him Lou."

"Who Iz? Who called you ugly?" I asked getting angry.

"It doesn't matter now, he's right, I'm ugly." She sniffled, "that's why no one ever likes me."

"Izzy you are not ugly, you're far from it." I insisted hugging her tighter. "Please believe you're beautiful."

"Bu-" I cut her off.

"Stan is Izzy ugly?" I turned Izzy towards Stan.

"Izzy," he looked towards to me to make sure he had her name right, I nodded. "Izzy, you're beautiful. Any boy that says you're ugly is either lying or is blind."

"You sure?" Izzy smiled a little bit looking between me and Stan.

"Yes." Stan and I answered in unison.

"Promise?" She asked still looking sad.

"Promise." I grinned at her.
