Chapter 1

Discovery

I was running, farther and farther away from the mysterious man chasing me. I was panting, but the man didn't even look tired. I was running while he was floating just above the ground a few yards behind me. The man wore a pitch black cloak, and in his hand, he was holding what looked like a scythe. I had no idea why he was chasing me, but it might've been because of a book I had found. I ran into the woods, trying to escape. Ducking under branches, and jumping over rocks and logs. Right when I thought I lost him...he appeared in front of me and I fell back, that's when I saw his eyes....

Ok, right about now, you should be wondering, "What the heck is going on?" Let's go back to the beginning and I'll explain.

My name was Aedyn Crewz. I was a 15 year old boy. And I was pretty normal. I went to Lyster Highschool, and I had plenty of friends. My life was going well, until I found a book in the school library, titled, A Deadman's Wish List, so of course, I took it.

You see my friend, Mai, likes these kind of horror books, and I thought this might make her happy. Even though I had plenty of friends, I only had two that I hung out with all the time. Their names were, Mya, and Connor. I showed the book to her when the two of them came over after school on Friday.

We were sitting on my room, when I pulled out the book and showed her.

"Mai, look what I found in the library?" I asked.

"Let me guess...a book?" she asked.

I scowled and threw the book at her.

"Woah, this looks interesting," she said, flipping through the pages.

"Yea, your welcome," I said."Connor, stop messing with the T.V. you're gonna break it."

"No, I won't. Don't you trust me?" Connor asked, faking tears.

"No," was my short reply.

He jumped up, and tackled me to the floor. As we were fighting, Mya was reading the story. When I finally pushed Connor away, lightning flashed outside my window.

"What the-" Connor said, looking out the window.

"The sky was just clear..." I said, confused.

Mya looked up quickly, then back at the book. As quickly as the lightning appeared, it disappeared. I saw her shrug, and go back to reading. A few minutes later, a really strong wind, rattled the window, and I could hear items crashing and falling outside.

Mya raised an eyebrow, and once again looked at the story in confusion.

"Um, guys? What's going on?" she asked.

"I have no idea," I answered.

"I WANT MY MOMMY!" Connor shouted, hugging a pillow.

I took the pillow, and whacked him on the head with it. "Stop joking around."

"This is weird, because in the story it says that lightning appeared, and in reality lightning appeared. And then it says a freak storm will occur, and I think it's happening now," she explained.

"How is that even possible in the first place?" I asked, taking the book.

To test it out I flipped to a random page, an read a sentence.

"The ground rumbled, as the people ran in fear."

After the last word, we waited a few seconds, before I felt the ground shake, and when I looked out the window, i saw people running, trying to find higher ground. Screaming, and running...in fear.

"Ok, this is beyond creepy now. Like, bro, it's not even funny," Connor said, holding his hands up.

"Ya think?" Mya said.

"Whats this book even about anyway?" I asked.

"I'm not sure, I think it's basically random sentences, but the sentences are kind of creepy," she explained.

"There aren't any, you know, happy sentences?" Connor asked, taking the book as well.

"Not from what I read so far," she replied.

I had no idea what was going on and now I wish I never picked up that book.

"What was it doing in the library anyway?" Mya asked me.

"I don't know, I just thought it looked interesting."

"Good job, Aedyn, you probably just borrowed a mass murder weapon," Connor said.

"No one asked you, Connor," I said, taking the book away from him.

He just burst out laughing.

"Guys, this is serious! What do we do?"Mya asked, eyeing the book.

"Calm down, just return the book," Connor suggested.

Mya and I looked at eachother and laughed at our own stupidity.

"Why did I not think of that? Who would have thought that Connor would come up with that?" Mya said laughing.

"I'm right here..."

We just continued laughing. Since my parents and younger sister were currently in Florida, I ordered pizza and the two of them stayed the night. For the rest of the night, the three of us didnt touch the book.

The three of us sat on the couch, eating our pizza, when an emergency news channel appeared stopping the show we were watching. This resulted in Connor complaining loudly, but Mya quickly shut him up.

"As all of you are aware, earlier today we experienced not one but three different surprising changes in weather. The first one happened at 3:30 in the afternoon when lightning struck, the next one happened at 3:35 when a powerful gust of wind blew in from the East. The last one happened at 3:45 when the ground shook. This, of course, created mass panic in the people. The Mayor has quoted the following," I don't know what might have caused this to occur, but we must remain calm, this might simply be because of global warming, but trust me when I say this. We are human beings, we will find a way out of this." That's all the news we have for you currently, stay tuned."

And the show resumed.
