The night was dark, and we could barely see a thing. I stared as hard as I could into the blackness, but I could barely see my hand in front of my face. Shania and I grabbed each others hands, and she shone her creditless cellphone like a pathetic torch. We lost track of all time and direction as we walked along the bare country road. Soon we saw lights in the distance.

“Shall we go towards those lights and get our bearings?” asked Shania

“Yeah,” I said “Good idea. I think that might be my house anyway.”

We moved silently towards the house. When we got closer the light washed over us and we could see who’s house it was.

“Omg” said Shania “It’s Ashley’s and Chelsea’s house! We’d better go! What if they see us?”

“Yeah..” I said and then “Wait!” I’ve always been the fiestier of Shania and I, and a reckless idea had just popped into my brain. “We should creep up to the windows and spy on them!”

“Why would we do that?” Shania asked “That’s… mean… and underhanded”

“Because silly,” I said sternly “We could totally dig up some dirt of them. They’re always so horrible to us, and imagine if we discovered some kind of secret”

I could see she wasn’t convinced. So, a dropped the game changer “We could see if they really do have One Direction’s numbers, maybe even steal them!”

“Okay….” She said. I could tell she wasn’t completely sure, but there was no way she would leave without me, and I was determined.

We crept up to the house, and hid behind the bushes. Ashley and Chelsea’s roomn was on the second floor, so we couldn’t see a thing.

“Let’s climb a tree!” I suggested “We’re not going to see anything down here!”

Shania nodded “I guess we’re already in too deep”

I dodged out from the cover and began to clamber up a tree, with Shania just behind me. We both stopped in a fork and looked out into Ashley and Chelsea’s room. One of the windows was just open, and they were talking loudly.

“This is going to awesome!” Ashley cried “While our parent’s are out, it’s the perfect time!”

“Yes! OMG! “ said Chelsea “It’s going to be amazing, so long as they don’t catch us.”

“They won’t,” said Ashley firmly

Suddenly, we heard movement down below. People were entering the garden! We drew back into the shadows and looked hard. It looked like five guys, about our age. We heard them talking in low voices to each other. Four of them went inside, but one of them remained by the door. Keeping watch? What was going on??

Suddenly we heard more talking from Ashley’s and Chelsea’s room. They had moved away from the window, and I couldn’t really hear what they were saying. There was a slender branch that came right up close to the window. Did I dare?

‘Don’t follow me,” I whispered to Shania, and shimmied along the branch.

“OMG!” Chelsea squealed “They’re here!”

They both rushed out of the room, and it was about 30 seconds until they returned. What’s more, with them, they had the four guys from before. They looked vaguely recognisable. Were they from school? Suddenly I heard creaking behind me. Shania was desperately wiggling her way along the branch.

‘No! Go back!” I hissed . She didn’t seem to hear me.

“That’s ONE DIRECTION!” she said, not even whispering

“No no Shania the branch is too thin!” I said, my voice rising

“OMGOMGOMG!” she cried, then “Where’s Zayn?

I didn’t have time to worry about the missing 1D member.

‘SHANIA GET BACK!” I yelled then

The branch snapped! Suddenly Shania and I were tumbling through the dark air, screaming. We landed with a thump in the bushes, and while we were groaning the mysterious guy who had stayed at the door came a stood over us. We were looking into the face of Zayn Malik. He smiled

“What’s happening?” he grinned, and then he yelled back at the house “Some more recruits have just dropped in!”
