DANI'S POV:

The bell rang, and I stood up and began packing my Calculus book. It was time for our lunch break. I walked up to my locker and exchanged my books. School was literally the worst. I saw Lauren by her locker and walked up to her.

"HEY!!"

"Oh God, Dani. You freaked the hell out of me."

"You get scared of every single thing,Lauren," I said, rolling my eyes.

"That's not true," she said.

"It is."

"Is not."

"Is."

"OH MY GOD, I just remembered!!"

"Remembered what??"

"Ms.Taylor paired me with Dylan for our history assignment!!"

"You're kidding!!"

"Nope, one-hundred percent true."

"That's SO not fair."

"Someone's jealous."

"I'm not jealous, I just..........Lauren!! He's staring at us AGAIN!!"

"Is he???"

"Don't turn around, you have to pretend that you don't care."

"Okay, what do I do?? We have to get out of here," said Lauren, panicking.

"Lauren, don't panic. You should be confident."

"Let's go to the cafeteria," she said, already walking away from all the hotness and towards the bad food.

"Lauren, his gang, which includes him, is walking right behind us. They are going to the cafeteria, too."

"We just need to get away," she said.

We entered the cafeteria, and sat on our usual table.

"Okay, here's the plan. I'll stare at him to see if he's staring at you. You just act normal and pretend you don't care. I repeat: pretend you don't care."

"Okay, fine."

"Lauren, take a deep breath. In. Out. Okay, now eat your food and I'll eat mine."

"Okay," Lauren said, obviously still anxious.

Throughout our lunch break, I watched Dylan and his friends eat, talk, and eat. They were sitting across our table which gave me a clear view of Dylan specifically. And me staring at him to see if he's staring at Lauren became me staring. Period. He was just so perfect. Someone told a joke and they all laughed out loud. God, that laugh. It melted my heart. After the laughter died out, Dylan looked around. Around and around until his eyes met mine. I was deep under his spell that it took me a moment to realize that him catching me staring was not a good thing. I looked down at my pants. But he's already caught me. It was maybe that, or I just couldn't resist the temptation.

My eyes slowly moved upwards till they reached his eyes. His beautiful light brown eyes. He was still staring at me, I bit my lower lip, making him smirk. He stood up and walked to our table, never breaking his gaze. He sat down next to Lauren, making her jump and pour her orange juice on her shirt.

"OH GOD, I'M SO SORRY!!" said Lauren, freaking out.

"What are you apologizing for? I'm sorry I freaked you out." said Dylan.

"No, no. It's my fault. Excuse me, I need to use the restroom," said Lauren as she smiled at me reassuringly. But I knew better.

"I never liked orange juice," said Dylan as he raised his eyebrows and grabbed the cup.
