I open my eyes to see a white endless abbess. Thats weird, one second I'm- actually I'm not really sure who or where I am.
"Hello?" I call out to anyone who may hear me.
"Hello Lauren."
I spin around to see an old man in white. I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to answer and I certainly didn't notice him before. As I turn around and open my mouth, the man touches my forehead and memories came flooding back like a dam breaking.
Seeing the clear world with my new glasses.
Hundreds of days of camp went by in a flash. All the sweet memories hugged me like a warm blanket. The not so sweet ones dropping on me like cold water. I remembered the last moments of my life. I was in the schools library during free period where surprising it was the emptiest. Just me and a few books, that is until I heard the gun shots. Like in most schools lockdowns were normal routine things, so when the alarm went off and the teachers casually closed the doors I wasn't thinking of my death, just how hard it was to read in the dark. That is until the first gunshot.
*BANG*
Me and the two other kids looked up in fear. That wasn't part of the drill.
*BANG*
This one seemed closer. Possibly a few feet from the door of the library. The library doors shook and everyone ran to the other end of the room. I remembered i had left my bookmark in a book and was contemplating getting it. It was my grandmothers after all. Then last thing i had from her. I ran to the table I was sitting at just as the doors sprang open, reviling two men in masking holding guns. I dive under the table but not before one of the men saw me. Unlike me the others had managed to hide in a back room that wasn't visible were the two men and I were standing. The one who saw me grabs me by the shirt and throws me down.
"Look what the cat dragged in" He laughed. "What do ya wanna do with her?"
"Whatever you want you know who we are after. Doesn't matter who we have to get rid of to get to them."
I knew exactly how they were talking to. Even behind the masks they looks very much like the two seniors that got humiliated by a teacher in front of the whole school by being forced to sing "Mary Had A Little Lamb." At the school talent show. Rumor had it they hadn't been at school for a week because they were plotting something. Guess the rumors were true. They must have been looking for that teacher, but everyone even if you didn't have him knew that Mr. Vince was a science teacher that hated reading, he would never be caught dead at a library. Guess those two boneheads didn't know that.
One of them had their gun pointed to my back and was talking to his friend. I saw my chance, once he looked away I made a run for it and all I remember was a sharp pain and falling.
Falling for a long time.
