The crisp scent of mint and wood smoke filled the air that morning, the large Darnassian-styled house welcoming and fresh. Tea is steeping on the counter, the fireplace is stocked up for the day and everyone sat in content silence. Serenity held the family, a peaceful expression on their faces as they lounged around the house, waiting for their tea to be ready to drink. They were all happy.
Except for Xanthi.
The General stood outside, at attention. Her body was stiff as she focused on something else, begging one of her shadows to pull her to wherever Alzied is. If it works or not, she didn't care. She just needed to hear his voice. There wasn't anything yet, unfortunately. She was hoping to find him sooner than it was humanly possible.
She watched the sun come over the mountain, hissing at the brightness from the horrid star. When the sun went down, her favourite time of the day started. The sky a deep purple and blue, with distant stars shining their light on the planet. Two moons high up in the sky, lighting up the ground enough for her to see where she's going, but not enough for people to be able to see her.
A bird landed to the assassin's left, perched on the fence while staring at her curiously. It chirped, ruffling its feathers in an attempt to get the woman's attention. She stole a brief glance, admiring the stark purple colouring of the massive hawk that meshed with a light brown at his throat. It's talons are long and pointed, black as the leathers she wore that day.
"Good morning, druid. Beautiful day isn't it?" Xanthi tilted her head, pointing her gaze ahead to the giant fireball in the distance and grimaced. God, she hates the sun.
"It is." The masculine voice hung in the air, as smooth as melted chocolate. She envied her former brothers and sisters, wishing hers held the same elegance as it did. "You don't look like a typical Blood Elf. Your ears are wrong."
The Druid gave her a hard look, gesturing to her not-so-perky ears. They lay more like a kaldorei's ear than anything else. Thankfully none of her brethren noticed it. "I'm not. I lived in Eldre'tharas for some time before making the trek to the Sin'dorei kingdom. I lived deep in the forest so I could evolve. I had to abandon my Druidic Priestess life for a more shady one. It took going to Outland afterwards for my body to look like this."
The Druid tensed at her words, but nodded in understanding. "I thought you looked familiar. Laena Moondancer was hailed for a long time, but now she's lost to the Sundering. Shall I tell them you live?"
Xanthi shook her head, though it was tempting to tell the others that she was still here in the shadows, hiding under several aliases. But it would ruin her reputation. Knowing that there's painting of her, books about her former glory.
"No. I died then. My name is Xanthi Reyaielas, General of the Dawnslayer Regiment. Not Laena Moondancer." With that, she bowed to the Druid and walked inside. The flapping of wings was the last she heard of the kaldorei.
'Better have a damn good reason for coming here... State you-' The words fell short, pausing. 'Xan?'
The assassin's heart rate skyrocketed. Her eyes grew wide, and she uttered a small spell before she was taken to a different setting. She was no longer in the broken isles, now standing before Az with a pleasant smile. A weapon was thrown to the side by the albino, and he spoke again. This time, it wasn't ringing in the back of her mind.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," another pause, and he shook his head. "How..Did you get in here...?"
He slowly turned to her, and she just beamed at him wordlessly for a moment, then lowered her head faintly. "Magic, for the most part. I had shadows find a way in. Otherwise, it was probably this tome."
Surprisingly enough, she did have something in her hand. She held it up, inspecting the thing with awe as she silently thanked Airyn for giving it to her. "And I do have a good reason for trespassing. I needed to see you, as silly as that may sound."
Xanthi canted her head, eyeing Alzied momentarily. Yes, she definitely needed to see him.
