This isn't a poem, but its an essay I wrote in 7th grade for this book, Outsiders. My essay had to be about Bravery and Courage.
Intro area- What is courage? Is it the ability to master fear? Is it the absence of fear? Or is it you, charging ahead towards something unknown? Facing your fears headstrong, or knowing you'll lose even before the battle starts but will yourself into the battle anyway? Whatever courage may be, these three boys have it, and they all show it in different ways.
The actual paragraph thing- Johnny, the "...beaten up pup..." who had a hard life, probably had the most courage and bravery than the others, his father had abused him, his mother never paid him any attention. The Socs had once given him a bad beaten. Johnny wasn't known to cry, but when those Socs beat him, he couldn't help but cry. Ever since then he had carried a switchblade, afraid of ever being beat again. Johnny first showed his courage standing up to his role model, Dallas, when he had been talking nasty to a Soc girl. The second time he showed courage was when the Socs had been drowning Ponyboy in the fountain, he had accidently killed one of the Socs, and sent the others running. The last time Johnny could ever had shown courage was when the rundown church they were staying at caught fire and there were little kids inside. Johnny and Ponyboy saved the kids.. Causing a fatal injury to one of the boys.
Ponyboy, he was the youngest and was more interested in movies and books than the other greasers, but later Johnny shows that he can get deeper into the story than Pony can.. Off topic. Ponyboy is the kid brother of Sodapop and Darry. He always had a hard time with Darry because they fought a lot and didn't seem to listen to the reason behind the other. It's been like that since their parents died. Pony showed courage at least once in the book was when Johnny and him were in that church ((I don't have the book so I can't exactly look at if he did show courage)) while it was on fire, but he was the first to run to the church to save them.
Darry, Ponyboy's older brother, "...could've been a Soc if it wasn't for us, the gang..." Darry had to work a lot since their parents died, and so he took responsibility of his kid brothers, Soda and Pony. Darry had it well in school, and would've gone to college if their parents hadn't died. He had to give up everything to keep them well, which takes courage and strength to turn down a good life opportunity.
Conclusion area- All people have their own ways of showing courage. Like Johnny, who helped people, or Darry, who stuck with his family. These are the kinds of people you want to have in your everyday lives, because they won't leave you there when you need them the most. People who aren't afraid to speak their minds, but who will also sit down and listen. Nobody is perfect, because everyone has a different definition of perfect.

PoetryThese are just poems of mine that I either made awhile ago, or recently. I really like poetry. It's easier than story telling. I might also add some essays I'm doing.
