louis woke up in harry's bed. yet harry himself was not beside louis, he was no where to be seen. louis pulled the covers back and climbed out of the queen sized bed. his bare feet touched the cold ground, giving him a small shock. once he had adjusted, he exited harry's room and went on a search for harry. he passed the bathroom, zayn and niall's room, also gemma's. a strong smell that smelt strongly of pancakes wafted up his nose. he followed the amazing sent and found himself in the kitchen, standing beside harry who was making pancakes."happy birthday, lou!" cheered harry. he embraced louis in a hug and a cheeky kiss. ever since the kiss, harry and louis have been stealing kisses from each other non stop. louis blushed very deeply and sat at the breakfast bar, drooling. harry's pancakes smelt amazing. he thanked harry as he handed him a single pancake and raced to the cupboard. harry pulled out maple syrup, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream from the fridge. louis smiled widely at harry as he set them down on the table and grabbed his own pancake. louis had perfected the art of making his pancakes look amazing and once he'd finished, harry was in awe.
"how did you do that?" wailed harry, laughing. louis shyly shrugged his shoulders at him and pushed his hair out of his way.
"you kind of have to, um, go like this.." louis began to drizzle the sauces over harry's plate. harry giggled and thanked him very much. louis was happy to help him.
later in the morning, harry approached louis with his hands behind his back. he pulled out a white bag and handed it to the small boy with exciting blue eyes.
"harry, you didn't have to get me a birthday present.." louis began but harry placed his finger over his mouth to silence him.
"i wanted to." smiled harry. louis blushed and delicately took out the tissue paper from the bag. beneath it was a pastel pink beanie. louis' face lit up as soon as he laid eyes on it and he picked it up in a hurry. he gave a yelp of joy and wrapped his arms around harry.
"thank you so much! i love it." stated louis as he placed it on his head. harry shook it off and told him not to worry about it since it was his birthday and he deserved to be spoiled.
"there's one more." harry said, pointing at the bag. louis reached in an pulled out a polaroid camera in the same shade of pink as his beanie. louis wailed with happiness. he had always wanted a polaroid camera but never got round to getting one. he thought he may even cry happy tears. he thanked harry lots of times that day for the camera and the beanie. louis also noticed that he needed fresh clothes and harry's were too big, also louis would never wear anything like it. he still loved harry's clothing on harry very much.
"harry, can you drive me home?" asked louis shyly. harry glanced up from his phone, not really believing what he'd just asked of him to do.
"are you sure? your mum didn't seem like she didn't want you there." harry said, raising an eyebrow.
"i, um, need to get some clothes. i can't stay in this stuff forever." he looked at the clothes he was wearing currently and then back up at harry. harry considered it for a moment then finally gave in. harry grabbed his keys while louis raced to grab his phone from harry's room.
"louis, are you totally sure?" asked harry as they pulled into louis' street. maybe he was. maybe he wasn't. but louis knew that he wanted to speak to lottie. he hadn't told harry about hat yet. no big deal. louis nodded at harry and they pulled into louis' snowy driveway. louis climbed out of the car quickly, his shoes getting soaked with water. he huffed and pulled his pink hoodie down lower on his face. he quietly tried opening the front door but it gave out a loud creaking noise. louis cringed and tip toed into his room. he really shouldn't have to be sneaking around his own house.
"louis, is that you?" said a shaky voice from behind. louis whipped around to see lottie, leaning against the wall. louis' face turned a fairly light shade of red as lottie's stare rested on him.
"yeah." louis looked up at lottie, who was looking at him disapprovingly. he felt very bad.
"happy birthday," she said as she handed him a present wrapped in purple wrapping paper. she smiled and hugged him tightly. lottie's eyes were welling up with tears as she stared at louis. a single tear fell from her eye and louis quickly wiped it away.
"don't cry, please." begged louis. lottie began to sob onto louis' hair, since she was far taller than him. lottie stroked his hair lightly as she cried. he rubbed her back in a circle motion while she cried. louis had no idea why she was crying.
"louis!" she wailed loudly. lottie grabbed his hand shakily and slowly pulled him up the stairs. louis kept telling her it was okay and it was going to be alright. she still sobbed very hard as they turned the corner into the hallway. louis gripped her hand lightly as she walked to the end of the hallway. lottie took a very deep breath and opened the closed door. on the ground, was jay. her white shirt was coated with blood by her stomach and her neck. louis' throat tightened quickly and he wailed in distress. he raced to his mother's side and pulled off her shirt to reveal deep cuts. some looked old and some of them were fresh, non the less blood was pouring from her body. there was so, so so much blood. her eyes were glued shut and as much as louis screamed at cried at her with pain and emotion, jay refused to open her eyes. his heart felt so heavy and he hadn't felt anything more painful in his entire life. he picked up her hand in his and planted a kiss on her cold hand. he cried very hard and buried his face by her neck. harry burst into the room and his face immediately dropped. harry raced to louis' side and scooped him up in his warm arms. he rocked louis back and forth and whispered in his ear that everything would be okay. it would never be the same again.
"no it won't, harry!" he screamed. harry shushed him and kissed his forehead gently numerous times but louis would not stop crying and wailing. lottie had fallen to jay's side and she was stroking her hair neatly. lottie was still sobbing and mumbling things to herself. harry held louis close to him and continued to kiss his hair. louis felt so empty and hollow. his mothers dead body was right before his eyes and there was nothing that he could do to change it. the thing that was bothering the most was that louis had left his mother during a fight and he'd never get to tell her that he loved her oh so much. he wailed again once more before collapsing into harry's arms, finding no point to struggle for her any more. there was nothing left to fight for. jay was gone and that's it.
"i love you, louis." whispered harry.
