"Didn't you say that Mum was coming home this Friday?" Evangeline was ecstatic, hoping to see her mother for the first time. Her aunt and uncle exchanged weary looks. "Actually my dear, we have something to tell you." She was worried, did her mother get in a car accident? Perhaps she couldn't come because of work? "Well," her Aunt Rubi started, "your mother is gone." It seemed like the simplest way to explain, yet, Evangeline was confused. "What do you mean? Has she traveled again?" "No, she's-" "passed away," Uncle Jack finished, cutting Rubi off. Evangeline's face paled instantly. "No...you are wrong!" The teary eyed 6 year old's voice increased as she spoke. A tear trickled down her face. Her world came crashing down, strangled sobs filling the air.
