Chapter five:

I stared at him, waiting for him to start 'the business.'

"Now that you are going to stay in the leaf village, you need to find a way to make money. You are around twelve, yes?"

I nod my head, having a pretty good idea of where this is going.

"So, why don't you join the graduating class at the ninja academy and become a ninja of the village? I believe you know the basics, considering that you lived alone out in the wild."

I grin, "I'd love to. Thanks, Gramps. You know, for somebody I only just met yesterday, you are very kind towards me. I said it before, and I'll say it again, words cannot express my gratitude towards you."

Gramps shakes his head, "There is no need for gratitude. I do this out of my own free will."

"Yeah, well, too bad." I

"Anyway, it would be nice to know where I will stay." I say, getting back to the 'important' business.

"Yes, about that," Gramps pulls out a map of the village and a pen "you will be staying here," he says, circling an apartment building towards the other side of the village, near the forest.

"The academy is here," he draws another circle all the way on the other side of the village, "and you will start in a week from now, to give you a chance to adjust to life at the village and perhaps explore it a bit.

Well, navigating this huge village will be fun. Super fun, considering my awesome navigation abilities. Heck, I wouldn't be able to read a map or give directions if it meant saving my life.

I gulp, already knowing that I will get lost so many times.

Fairy looks at me worriedly, well aware of my navigation skills.

Gramps notices my distress, before sighing and giving me the map.

"You do know how to reads map, right?" Gramps asks in concern.

"No, I just look really worried about the map because I want to" I reply sarcastically.

Fairy looks at me as if to say that I need to stop being sarcastic.

But me being me, and liking my sarcasm, I didn't get what he was trying to imply, which I usually can.

I tilt my head in confusion "What? Is there something on my face?" He facepaws his face.

I sigh.

"You know, if your not going to tell me what's wrong, you can't expect me to fix it." I tell the ferret.

"So, here are your keys, and enjoy your stay at the leaf village." He hands me the key to the apartment, while I just stare at him, knowing that he must have forgotten about my 'awesome' map reading skills.

"I will be paying for your rent and food while you attend the academy. Your apartment number is 9. Enjoy your stay at the leaf village." He says, sounding like a hotel receptionist.
