Chapter 1: Airship Pirates
"Kaylee, your needed on the bridge." the telecom rang. Kaylee snapped awake and got up from her bunk. She pushed a button on the wall below a small speaker. "Be right there!" she replied, she turned to the small reptile on her bookshelf. "Wake up Sunlight, time to work." She said to the yellow dragon waking up its curled up self. The door to her cabin slid open and she waited for Sunlight to hop to her shoulder. "Off we go, to another adventure!" she whispered to the dragon as they headed to the bridge.
Just as she was approaching the bridge, a loud bang can from the door before it. John backed out of the engine room with a rag to his face. A cloud of steam flooded the hall. "Troubles John?" she said with a slight giggle. "Captain!" John snapped to attention. "At ease. What's wrong with the engine?" "The bloody thing is older than me pa! When we get where we're going I'll fix her up, good as new. For now, I can stand the heat." "Aye John" she saluted and continued onto the bridge.
"Ahh, Captain. Sleep well?" A man in a blue coat with black hair and a pair of goggles around his neck saluted to her. "Yes I did, thank you Gabe." She said receiving tea from one of the cooks on board. "Now, why did you need me?" A puzzled look slowly floated across her face. "We should be in port by noon." "That's good, but why wake me for something I knew already?" Gabe shifted uncomfortably "The port is hailing us; it's under attack by pirates, they want us to turn around." "Turn and run? Are you mad? Tell them we're come to help."
"Captain, small problem. This is a transport ship, it's not armed. We can't exactly face pirates with it, it'd be like shooting at a block of wood with ten machine guns." "I know that. Navigators, there are junk islands before the port right?" "Yes Ma'am." "Good, set us down there." She couldn't contain the joy plastered on her face in a big childish smile. "Take it you have a plan?" "Gabe, remember when we used to play airship pirates as a kid? Well, why not have a little fun with the opportunity fate has given us?" she sipped her tea. "Let's kill some pirates!"
