Chapter 1

It was a Tuesday night, everyone else that I knew were probably sleep or at tryouts. On the other hand I was undecided about what I could do tonight since Glee club and Cheerios tryouts were also open. Small exhasperatin breathes escaped my lips as I contemplated on where I would be going tonight. Glee club auditions started around 7. While Cheerios was at 8. I was not going to pass up any opportunities on not joining either since my parents wanted me to do something constructive. I loved singing and I also loved dancing in my spare time. My dad was a full time football coach while my mom was a singer and cheerleader; so, I thought why not tryout for both? I grabbed my changing clothes exiting my bedroom and out the door. "Summer, where you leaving this late?" My friend Puck asked. "Cheerios tryouts and Glee club auditions." I responded throwing my bag inside of my car. "Why are you auditioning for Glee club?" Puck asked in a annoyed voice. "Different reasons Puck, I need something to do outside of school. I'll talk to you later bud." I replied sliding in the driver's seat driving off to the school before it was too late.

Lately Mr. Schuester and his wife Terri haven't been seeing eye to eye because Mr. Schuester puts more heart and effort into creating a Glee Club at school instead of his marriage. Ever since Terri and Will been engaged he's been at the school every day putting up signs each school year hoping students from the school would join. With his heart built on raising a Drama/Glee Club, Terri feels like she's being pushed away. Lately their marriage has been falling apart after constant arguing. "ALL YOU SEEM TO CARE ABOUT IS THE GLEE CLUB...WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MAKING OUR MARRIAGE WORK? Terri yelled behind Will. As of today, this has been their second argument. "Terri, you know that's not true, I do want to make this marriage work, I'm sorry I haven't been there for you when I should be. It's just that the school needs another department other than cheerleading? I tell you what, get dressed tonight, it's Sunday I'll make dinner. How does that sound?" Will asked trying to get the attention off of him. "I'm sorry for yelling, it's just that I know you're dedicated to putting so much into the school, I just feel like we haven't spent enough time together. I love you Will! Dinner would be great." Terri calmly responded smiling hoping to make Will happy. "Ok get dressed and I'll start dinner." Will replied. "Ok." Terri smiled pecking her husband on the cheek before rushing upstairs to change.

Meanwhile at the school

Summer enters the school just on time to audition for Glee Club. "Hi, how can I help you?" One of the school's staff members asked. "I'm here to audition for the Glee Club. Am I late?" Summer asked. "No, are  you a freshmen? (Year 9). I'm the Cherrios coach Sue Sylvester. You should think about trying out for my team instead." Sue smirked showing off her sarcasm. "Actually, I was going to but...." Just before Summer could finish her sentence Sue rested her hands over her hips. "Think about it will you? I'll be in the gym where tryouts will be held." Sue responded patting Summer on the shoulder as Summer enters the auditorium. "Wow, its awfully crowded in here." Summer quietly spoke to herself. "Glee Club tryouts huh?" Kurt asked. "Yes, have you auditioned yet?" Summer asked. "I'm not really sure yet, I'm in the middle of processing it." Kurt responded. "What are you waiting for, you have many opportunities, if you wait they will close?" Summer asked. "I'm convinced, I'll audition. By the way what song are you singing?" Kurt asked. "I'm singing 'Perfect' by, Simple Plan." Summer responded. "Really, why the song choice?" Kurt asked. "I just feel like the song were dedicated to me and how my life actually relates to it." Summer responded. "Good choice Summer, I hope you do well." Kurt smiled. "Thank you." Summer smiled.

Summer steps on stage as her number was called as Summer clears her throat before hearing someone talking. "So, what song will you be auditioning for?" Was all Summer heard as she glanced over seeing an upper classmen named 'Brody' who was a transfer student from NYADA joining William McKinley High School. Not only was Brody a sweet talker; but, he's also smart, musical, and persuasive. "I'm going to be singing, "Perfect" by Simple Plan." Summer responded giving her direct attention to Brody and the students that gave her soft angry stares, some whispering....more like gossiping negatively about Summer as Brody shushed everyone to be quiet wanting Summer to continue. "You may start."  "Ok." Summer replied as she gently grabs the microphone and closed her eyes beginning thinking back on her father when he left the family. " Hey dad look at me. Think back and talk to me. Did I grow up according to plan? And do you think I'm wasting my time. doing things I wanna do? But it hurts when you disapprove all along. And now I try hard to make it. I just wanna make you proud. I'm never gonna be good enough for you. Can't pretend that I'm alright. And you can't change me. 'Cause we lost it all. Nothing lasts forever. I'm sorry I can't be perfect. Now it's just too late... and We can't go back. I'm sorry I can't be perfect. I try not to think... About the pain I feel inside. Did you know you used to be my hero? All the days you spent with me. Now seem so far away. And it feels like you don't care anymore. And now I try hard to make it.. I just wanna make you proud. I'm never gonna be good enough for you. I can't stand another fight. And nothing's alright." Summer stopped as tears filled her eyes as half of the auditorium became completely silent for 10 seconds before giving Summer around of applause. Brody smiled as he also clapped standing from his seat and giving Summer a hug. "I felt that, it was beautiful." Brody smiled Terri gets ready for her dinner date with Mr Schuster....or should I say Will? Terri settles on wearing a black lace Dolce and Gabanna that perfectly fitted her pear shaped just the way Will always told Terri she was. Also wearing a matching pair of lace Dolce and Gabbanna shoes leaving her hair out naturally curly. Just before Terri exits her dressing room that she shares with Will, her fiance's phone rings while Will was in the middle of cooking. "Hello!" Will answered from downstairs wearing a tuxedo and apron putting together the final dish for dinner. "Why hello Will, this is Emma Pillsbury from William McKinley High School." Emma firmly greeted. "Hello Emma, how are you?"'Will greeted with a soft smile. "Sorry to call you at a time like this, but I'm here to inform you that a young girl just made the auditions for Glee. You have to get down here and listen to this girl. Her name is Summer Scofield. She has a lovely voice, you should've heard it." Emma informed Will about Summer's audition. "Really, I wish I could but I'm having dinner with my fiance. Terri would be highly upset if I left the house before dinner." Will replied. "Oh, I'm sorry to bother you then. I understand you're busy." Emma replied feeling a bit guilty about getting excited while Will was spending time at home with Terri. A few seconds of thinking Will sighed also feeling guilty about not witnessing a new student auditioning and hearing her voice. "I'll be there." Will replied getting off the phone as Terri walks downstairs. "Was that the school again?" Terri asked worriedly. "Sorry, I have to go." Will said taking off his apron exiting the house leaving Terri upset sitting on the bottom step tearing up.

Summer was greeted by the alumni cast of Glee begins giving their encouragement and wishes to Summer. "Thank you everybody!" Summer replied just as an angry group of cheerleaders dressed in red and white  uniforms sarcastically cheers Summer, "Bravo! That was absolutely horrifying, I mean you can kill animals with that voice." One of the leaders laughed. "Haha, that was a good burn! Erinn laughed. "I know wasn't it. Look here miss...Sunshine, Summertime...whatever your name is...you're not joining the Glee Club? Want to know why? I'm Bree, and I will NOT let some freshman come in this school stealing a spotlight... I will publicly humiliate you." Bree barked at Summer trying to make everything clear as a few footsteps approached stopping the 3 girls from turning the auditorium into a arguing scene. "BREE, LEAVE SUMMER ALONE!" The Cheerios coach Ms Sue warned as Bree and her angry follower Erinn rolled their eyes. "I'm warning you girls, if I catch you bothering our freshman again, I'll kick you off the team. Got it?" Coach Sue furiously taunted. "Yes Coach!" The girls replied bumping Summer into a  line of chairs walking away. Is this how a bunch of angry plastic teenage girls acting in school. If so, I want my revenge fast???!!!!
