My phone buzzes and I look down at it.
Jason - Can I see you tomorrow at lunch?
I grin at it.
Annabel - Sure! Where?
Jason - I thought it might be weird to be seen with you so... I don't know...
Annabel - Why would it be weird?
Jason - I'm not exactly the most popular person...
Annabel - I don't mind, we're dating now sooo...
Jason - We are?
Annabel - We aren't?
Jason - Oh sorry! Of course. I'll meet you tomorrow at the locker block! Girlfriend ;)
I smile and put my phone away.
"Hey Lexi!" I call as I pass Alexis. She spins around from talking to one of the boys on her track team, glaring at me with her arms crossed.
"What?" I ask, worriedly. Her eyes are scrunched up and her lips are turned down into a frown.
Maybe she worked it out... Maybe she knows it was Ethan...
"Yeah?" I ask again, suddenly feeling scared. Alexis' face breaks out into a grin and I breathe a sigh of relief.
"You know Harry, the one in our English class?" she asks, grabbing her bag and bouncing along with me. I nod, suddenly relieved. "Well, Harry so obviously so likes Kait, but won't ask her out at all," she says chattily, "but he asked her out yesterday after school. They're going to your Halloween Party! Isn't that cool?" Lexi gushes. I nod along absentmindedly. I did know, Harry has liked Kait for weeks. I'm glad they finally are going out.
"See ya," Lexi calls before running off, backpack bouncing.
"Bye Lex!" I call, "I'll see you in History later."
She twists around and waves at me as she runs off. I watch as she runs up to Adam, obviously asking about the cameras again. Adam shrugs non-committedly and slouches off to his next class. I nod, happy that Adam is following instructions.
Lexi, however wasn't very happy with the idea.
She storms up to him and says something. Whatever she said, it sure triggered a reaction because Adam spun around, chilly blue eyes glaring. He hisses something under his breath and Lexi retorts with some smart comeback, crossing her arms, glaring at him.
"What's happening?" the voice next to me makes me jump. I whirl around and came face to face with Daisy, who is looking curious. I sigh a breath of relief, "It's Adam and Lexi, they are arguing again," I say, pointing, "Look."
Daisy rolls her eyes, "They argue pretty much all the time, but in the end, Adam always gives in cause that's what he does. Unlike Hunter," she adds as a second thought, sighing.
I laugh, "Watch this, it'll be good," I insist, holding her arm. She grumbles but she stays.
We're too far away to hear what was being said, but I can tell both of them are getting hurt. And by now, most of the crowd has gathered to watch, after all, who wouldn't want to? The Bad Girl vs the Geek? It is obvious who is going to win. I could swear money is being passed around.
Adam throws his hands in the air and cries something, exasperated. Lexi falls silent, very silent. Too silent. Seconds past and the crowd holds their breath, waiting for the Bad Girl's comeback. But instead, she shoots Adam a disappointed look, mutters something, something so quiet only Adam can hear; then she turns and storms off, backpack hanging off her right shoulder.
